i rolled my eyes "i was just calling so you knew we were safe however you don't seem to be that concerned. i was expecting a million missed calls and unread texts".
"and piss you off? nah im good" he chuckled "i knew you probably fell asleep. i wasn't worried".
"mhm" i said looking out of the window as snow began to fall.
"so montreal, huh?" he said after a long silence "when you said you were leaving me i didn't expect you to go that far. i saw you take the keys to the mansion snd everything".
"it was a last minute change of plans, plus i didn't run from anything. i left because staying there, staying in new york with you and that toxic environment was suffocating" i added my tone defensive.
"why you always gotta act like you're the only one dealing with shit?. this shit isn't easy for me either, trying to be a broker of peace between you, millie and the kids" he spat.
i just stared at him through the screen asking myself if he was dumb. i could already tell this call wasn't going to be all lovey dovey but who cared? i was ready to face it all head on.
"peace?" i asked "one no 'peace' would have to be made if you kept your dick in your pants and was transparent with you kids about your relationship and the state of them, two i wouldn't necessarily call millie filling kairi's head with lies and you just allowing it to happen peace!".
"allowing it to happen?" he spat.
"yes allowing it to happen! you slept with her and you knew exactly what would happen. it was only a matter of time before that bitch started spewing some bullshit in kairi's ear".
he didn't say anything, just continued to focus on the road im assuming.
"i mean now kairi thinks i'm the homewrecker? me?" i gestures toward myself with a laugh "i wiped their tears when millie dragged your ass to court. i've looked after them, loved them like they were my own. i've been there for them every time she couldn't or should i say wouldn't and this is what i get?...wow".
"she's a child kamryn".
"yes but she's a smart girl too dave. open your eyes and realise how twisted millie is".
