— kamryn's pov:

"mommy" ava smiled the next morning "what are you doing here?".

"what? i can't come and visit my daughter?" i laughed.

"no!".

"no? girl go and eat your breakfast".

she laughed running to her stool at the island beside kairi and kobi.

as she took her seat dave was coming downstairs.

"up before me".

"as always" i replied.

"as always? i don't recall seeing you up at 5am".

"yes because i was up at 3 feeding your boys" i said walking towards the twins who were sat in their high chairs, eating very messily. most food was on the floor.

"your mommy lying on yall" he said picking kamari up "aint she chunk?" he added kissing on his cheek.

"i thought saint was chunk?".

"they're both getting chunky" he replied "you feeding them good".

"i feed everyone good, look at them" i said nodding towards the girls "best breakfast in weeks".

"that true?" he asked the girls.

"mommy made wafflies" kobi giggled.

it warmed my heart, she hadn't called them wafflies in forever.

"better than the cereal i give you im assuming?" he asked.

"way better" kairi interjected her mouth full.

"told you" i laughed making him chuckle as he went on to kiss the girls good morning.

kamari loving being carried simply settled in his arms.

saint began to fuss in his chair his little hands slapping the tray and his face scrunching up.

"okay okay chill baby" i said scooping him up. almost immediately he nestled on me like he'd been waiting forever. extra just like their mommy.

as i bounced saint gently, dave looked down at kamari in his arms who sucked on the hem of his tshirt. he was teething.

"can't believe these two will be one in a couple weeks" he said.

"don't remind me" i replied "they're growing up too fast" i added

"way too fast" he nodded his tone holding a hint of nostalgia. it felt like yesterday they were born.

dave went to kiss kamari's cheek when mari decided to smash a blob of mango puree or applesauce right onto the side of his face.

the girls laughed, and so did me and dave. we all did smiling wider as kamari began to giggle.

"no don't do that baby" i laughed trying to stop my laughter but failing miserably.

kamari looked back at me and then dave before saying "uh oh", something he'd picked up from one of the nursery rhymes.

"awww, yes baby. uh oh" i smiled. bias maybe but my babies were too cute.

"say sorry to daddy, handsome" i said.

the twins were yet to say mommy or daddy. they couldn't walk yet just scooted, crawled or cried. i was a little worried but as dave said comparison is thief of joy, they were healthy what more could we ask for.

although he was right i'd be lying if i said it didn't worry me sometimes, especially with the hearing problems saint had. i'd scroll online and see other babies their age babbling whole sentences, practically cartwheeling.
