Chapter 353 What's Are You Going To Do

"Wow, Ruby. You're very savage today," Alice observed.

Chaeng snorted. "What do you mean 'today'? She has always been savage. This is her real personality."

"Chaeng, please," Jisoo begged her friend to stop with a tug on the arm.

Jennie only raised an eyebrow at Chaeng before flipping her hair back and ignoring her. Then she continued to talk to Hoyeon.

"Well, it's none of my business whatever happens in your relationship with Elder Brother Hwi. I'm just saying that a man who can't properly defend and protect you is not worth your love. Just look at my honey. He'll do anything for me. That's why I love him very much."

The strange ill feelings inconspicuously hijacking her emotions retreated when her love for Lisa overflowed inside her. A stupid smile broke out of her face at the thought of her honey.

"Pft!" Alice laughed seeing her expression. "And I was wondering why you're suddenly being so bitchy about Big Brother Hwi. It turns out that you just want to brag about your man to Big Sis Yeon. Ruby, you're so funny sometimes."

"Well, show me a man who's better than my honey," Jennie dared Alice.

"Fine, fine. I get it. Your man is the best. Happy?" Alice continued to laugh.

Hoyeon also smiled at the lighthearted exchange. Alice and Jae were very similar in that they could always find a way to lighten the atmosphere. Although Hoyeon was smiling, Jennie's words managed to strike a chord within her.

She felt disappointed that Donghwi was basically just asking her to endure all of the insults being thrown at her tonight. The dream of a happy family for the sake of her son was the only thing keeping her from bolting out of this place filled with judgmental people.

Although she appreciated that he brought her to the party, introduced her to his father, and held her hand in front of everyone, she wished that he would do something more. With every insult she kept on overhearing from the surrounding people, she felt belittled as a human being.

It reminded her of the vast difference between their statuses. Donghwi was the Crown Prince, while she was only a bodyguard. Her insecurity only grew.

Her depressing thoughts were interrupted by Chaeng.

"Oh, look who just arrived," Chaeng said. "It's the Wu family."

They turned their heads to the entrance. A mature couple around Jihoon's age walked in with an attractive, willowy young woman.

"That's the interior designer, Eunchae. The Wu family's beloved daughter and their pride and joy." Then Chaeng glanced at Hoyeon, adding, "And Big Brother Hwi's ex-girlfriend."

Hoyeon stiffened at Chaeng's words. Good thing that she was able to maintain a neutral expression, not showing how affected she really was by Eunchae's presence.

She forced herself to look at Eunchae. She had met the woman before when she worked as Donghwi's bodyguard. Donghwi and Eunchae were still together during that time. However, the two rarely saw each other in person. Both were busy with their respective careers. Additionally, Eunchae lived in the U.S., only returning to the country every few months. It was mostly a long-distance relationship.

"She looks weak. Yeon's body looks so much better. Look at those arms. They look like twigs," Jennie commented.

Something stirred unnoticed inside her again. It started to intertwine with her own emotions until there was almost no distinctions between what was hers and what was not. If Jennie would only stop, examine and analyze her current feelings, she would notice that her bad-tempered attitude was so unlike the usual her. It was more like the original Jennie. Unfortunately, she was at a party right now and didn't have the time for introspection.

Alice giggled. "Oh, Ruby. You're so bitchy today. I love it!"

Even Jisoo and Chaeng smiled at Jennie's bitchy comment. After a few moments, Chaeng caught herself smiling and was surprised. She fixed her expression, erasing the smile from her face.

"Yeon, don't feel insecure because of that Wu what's-her-name," Jennie continued. "If Elder Brother Hwi chooses that woman over you, then he's a big idiot. I'm sure you'll find a better man than him who'll appreciate you and love you wholeheartedly. And don't worry about Little Jun. If that big idiot tries to take him away from you, my honey and I will wage a bloody war against him and that Wu what's-her-name."

"Ahahaha! Big idiot...Wu what's-her-name... Ahahahaha!" Alice doubled over and laughed hard while clutching her stomach.

Jisoo also giggled. Chaeng's mouth was twitching so badly, as she tried hard to stop herself from laughing.

'Dammit! I just find her words funny, that's all. It doesn't mean that I like this b*tch,' Chaeng told herself while desperately trying hard not to laugh.

"Ruby, thank you," Hoyeon said in her sincerest tone.

She was truly grateful. Although she found it weird that Jennie was being so unusually bitchy today, she thought that it was just because Jennie was being a friend to her. After all, true friends would always side with each other regardless of circumstance.

After giggling, Jisoo bit her lip when she realized that they were being mean. "I think we should stop badmouthing Miss Wu. It'll reflect badly on Father if others were to hear us. Besides, the Wus are long-time friends of our Kim family..."

"Big Sister Jisoo, I'm a Kim but I'm not friends with any of the Wus. Are you?" Jennie countered.

"No..." Jisoo replied.

Alice snickered.

"Fine, I'll stop," Jennie finally said with a shrug. "As long as she doesn't make trouble with Yeon, I won't say anything."

"Oh! Look!" Chaeng exclaimed. "Wu what's-her-name...I mean Eunchae is talking to Big Brother Hwi over there."

They all turned to where Chaeng was looking at. Indeed, they saw the former lovers talking to each other.

"Maybe they're just greeting each other..." Jisoo suggested.

"Jisoo, we're all women here. Look at Eunchae's expression. Tell me if she really just plans on greeting your brother," Chaeng told her. "Oh! She just touched his arm. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 seconds! Let's round it to 10! Who touches a taken man for 10 seconds?"

"What the?! Now I'm angry. What are we going to do?" Alice asked.

"What do YOU want to do?" Jennie asked Hoyeon instead.
