The sunlight filtered softly through the curtains of Mya and Jaylen's bedroom, casting a warm, golden glow across the room. The house was quiet, a stillness settling over everything that felt new, almost sacred. Mya lay curled up beside Jaylen, her head resting on his chest, their breathing in sync. It had only been a few weeks since their wedding, but the magic of that day lingered in the air, wrapping around them like a comforting blanket.Mya's eyes fluttered open, her gaze drifting to the wedding photo on the nightstand. It was one of her favorite pictures—a candid shot of her and Jaylen laughing during their first dance, completely wrapped up in each other. The memory of that day still made her heart swell. The way Jaylen had looked at her when she walked down the aisle, the vows they had exchanged, the promises they had made for their future. It all felt like a dream.
But now, they were back to reality, starting their married life together. And while the honeymoon had been a perfect escape, Mya knew this was where the real journey began.
Jaylen stirred beside her, his arm tightening around her waist as he slowly woke up. Mya smiled, pressing a soft kiss to his shoulder.
"Good morning, husband," she whispered, her voice still thick with sleep.
Jaylen chuckled, his eyes still closed. "Good morning, wife. How'd you sleep?"
Mya shifted slightly, snuggling deeper into his embrace. "Like a baby. You?"
"Same," Jaylen replied, finally opening his eyes to look down at her. His gaze softened as he brushed a strand of hair out of her face. "Still doesn't feel real, you know? Being married to you."
Mya smiled, her heart doing that familiar flip it always did when Jaylen looked at her like that. "I know what you mean. But I love it. I love us."
Jaylen leaned down, kissing her softly. "I love us too."
They lay there for a while longer, soaking in the quiet moments before the day officially began. It was a Saturday, and for the first time in what felt like forever, they didn't have anything planned. No meetings, no wedding details to finalize—just the two of them, and the start of their new life together.
"What do you want to do today?" Mya asked, her head resting on his chest as she traced small circles on his arm.
Jaylen shrugged, his voice relaxed. "I don't know. We could just chill here, maybe go out for lunch later. Or... we could talk about the future."
Mya raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "The future?"
Jaylen nodded, his expression thoughtful. "Yeah, like... what's next for us. We've been talking about starting a family, and I've been thinking about it more lately. I know we've still got time, but I don't want to wait too long."
Mya's heart skipped a beat. The conversation about starting a family had been on her mind too, especially now that they were settling into married life. She had always imagined having kids one day, but now that the possibility was real, it felt both exciting and overwhelming.
"I've been thinking about it too," Mya admitted, her voice soft. "I want to be sure we're both ready before we take that step. It's a big change."
Jaylen nodded, his hand gently stroking her back. "I know. And I'm not saying we need to rush into it. But I want us to start thinking about it seriously. It feels like the next step for us, you know?"
Mya smiled, her heart swelling with love for him. "Yeah, it does. And I want that too. I just want to make sure we're ready for everything that comes with it."
Jaylen kissed her forehead, his voice filled with warmth. "We'll be ready when the time comes. And when we are, it'll be amazing."
Mya nodded, feeling a sense of calm settle over her. They had always been on the same page, and she trusted that when the time was right, they would figure it out together—just like they always had.
As the morning stretched into afternoon, they spent the day lounging around the house, talking, laughing, and planning for the future. It felt like a new chapter in their lives, one filled with endless possibilities. And as Mya looked out the window at the world beyond, she couldn't help but feel excited for what was to come.
They had come so far, and this was just the beginning of their journey as husband and wife. A journey filled with love, growth, and the promise of something even greater on the horizon.
Whatever the future held, Mya knew they would face it together—stronger than ever.
And that was more than enough.
