Ophelia’s eyes widened as the regal woman’s words hung in the air. “Return? Home?” She felt lost, with no memories of this majestic place.

“Who are you?” Ophelia whispered, her voice trembling.

Ryker intervened, his voice soothing. “Ophelia, we’ve had a long journey. You must be tired. Let’s rest.”

The regal woman smiled warmly. “Come, my child. I’ll show you to your room.”

As they walked, Ophelia’s eyelids grew heavy. The woman’s gentle voice broke the silence.

“Are you okay, child?”

“I’m fine, just tired,” Ophelia replied, her words barely above a whisper.

The woman nodded and departed, leaving Ophelia alone.

Ophelia sat on the plush bed, scanning the elegant room. Her mind raced.

“I need answers, and fast,” she thought.

Suddenly, a chill ran down her spine. She sensed being watched.

Her gaze snapped to the window, and she saw a shadowy figure lurking.

Ophelia approached the window cautiously but found no one.

“No, I can’t live like this,” she whispered to herself. “I need the truth.”

Closing the window, Ophelia returned to bed, her thoughts swirling.

Ryker’s face appeared in her mind: their laughter, quiet moments, and whispered secrets.

“Why does my heart flutter whenever he’s near?” she wondered.

“Did I fall for him?”

“Is this my first love?”

As sleep claimed her, Ophelia’s mind remained tangled in questions and emotions.

Unseen eyes watched her from the shadows, hidden in the darkness.

Ophelia woke to a gentle knock. A servant bowed and apologized, “I’m sorry to disturb your sleep, milady. I’m here to help you get ready.”

Ophelia nodded, and the servant assisted her in freshening up.

Afterward, the servant escorted Ophelia to breakfast, where everyone waited.

Ryker smiled. “Come Ophie, we were waiting for you.”

Ophelia apologized. “I’m sorry, I guess I’m late.”

The regal woman warmly replied, “Oh, my child! Don’t be sorry. Come darling, sit next to me.”

Ophelia sat between Ryker and The regal woman.

Ryker introduced, “Ophelia, meet my mother, Queen Elara.”

“Oh!” Ophelia bowed.

Ryker pointed to his sister. “And this is Eva.”

Ophelia bowed, sensing unease in Eva’s behaviour.

Ophelia turned to Ryker. “So, you’re a prince… Prince Ryker.”

Ryker chuckled.

Queen Elara interrupted, “The breakfast is getting cold. Let’s eat.”

After breakfast, Queen Elara tasked Ryker, “Show Ophelia around the kingdom. I’ve prepared everything.”

Ryker thanked her. “Thank you, Mother.”

Queen Elara cautioned, “Return before evening. You know it’s not safe after darkness.”

Ryker agreed. “Yes, Mother.”

They bowed and left.

At the horses, Ophelia whispered, “Ryker, I—”

Ryker ordered one horse taken away. “I know. Come, let’s go.”

He helped Ophelia mount, sitting behind her.

Ophelia’s heart fluttered.

They rode through the kingdom, dismounting at a hill.

Ryker helped Ophelia down. “Let’s walk,” he said, taking her hand.

As they strolled, Ryker pointed out landmarks and shared stories.

They sat together, admiring nature’s serenity. The kingdom’s breathtaking view unfolded before them. Ryker’s warmth enveloped Ophelia.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Ryker whispered, his breath tickling her ear.

Ophelia nodded, her heart skipping a beat.

They sat in comfortable silence, watching the sunset.

Ryker’s arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer. “I’ve always loved this spot.”

Their eyes locked, the air thick with unspoken emotions.

Ryker turned to Ophelia. “You’re beautiful, Ophie. Inside and out.”

Ophelia blushed.

The tension between them was palpable. Ophelia’s pulse quickened.

“Ryker,” she whispered, turning to face him.

Without a word, Ryker leaned in,  his face close, his lips inches from hers.

But just as their lips were about to meet, Ophelia jerked back.

A sharp pain pierced her heart.

Ryker’s concern was instant. “Ophie, are you okay?”

Ophelia struggled to breathe. “Y-yes, I just… felt uneasy.”

Ryker enveloped her in a gentle hug.

“Hey, it’s okay,” he whispered.

Ophelia’s pain subsided, replaced by Ryker’s warmth.

His hand cradled her face, thumbs tracing her cheeks.

Their eyes met, and Ophelia’s heart skipped a beat.

Ryker’s voice was soft. “What happened?”

Ophelia’s voice barely escaped. “I… don’t know.”

Ryker’s hold tightened.

“I’m here,” he whispered.

As they held each other, the world faded away.

Ryker’s eyes locked onto hers. “You’re safe with me.”

Ophelia smiled, feeling protected.

As the sun’s rays began to fade, casting a warm orange glow over the landscape, Ryker’s voice broke the serene atmosphere.

“Night’s gonna fall soon, Ophie. Let’s go,” Ryker urged, his tone laced with concern.

Ophelia hesitated, her gaze meeting Ryker’s.

“Ryker, why do we have to return before darkness?” Ophelia asked, her voice tinged with curiosity.

Ryker’s expression turned grave. “You’ve also seen some shadowy figures, Ophelia. The mystery behind them is still unknown, and our kingdom feels danger from them.”

Ophelia’s mind flashed back to the eerie encounters, the unsettling feeling of being watched.

“Come, Ophelia,” Ryker said gently, offering his arm. “Let’s return to the palace first. I’ll tell you everything in detail.”

Ophelia nodded, and together they hastened toward the palace as darkness closed in.

As they entered the palace, Queen Elara's anxious expression softened upon seeing Ophelia and Ryker.

"You're back," she said, relief evident in her voice. "What took you so long? I was worried sick about you. Ryker, I told you to return on time."

Ryker bowed his head, apologetic. "I'm sorry, Mother. We made you worry. Ophie was feeling a little unwell."

The Queen's gaze shifted to Ophelia, concern etched on her face. "Oh, my child! What's wrong?"

Ophelia forced a gentle smile. "I'm fine now, Your Majesty."

Queen Elara's eyes lingered on Ophelia's pale complexion before nodding. "Come, have something to eat. You must be hungry."

Ophelia hesitated, her stomach churning with unease. "I'm sorry, but I don't feel like eating anything."

The Queen's brow furrowed. "Oh, then you should rest more. You must be exhausted. I'll send food to your room."

She summoned a servant with a gentle wave. "Liril, please help Ophelia to her room and assist her in freshening up."

Liril curtsied, her eyes sympathetic. "Yes, Your Majesty."

As Liril guided Ophelia away, Queen Elara's voice followed. "Rest well, child. We'll talk soon."

Ophelia's thoughts swirled with questions and doubts as she departed, leaving Ryker alone with his mother.
