Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.
Is this the right address?
I look at my phone staring at Samantha's message.
"Wow, This place is huge!" Ella spoke behind me staring at the huge house in front of us.
Though i have been amazed with the architecture of the house we pass by when Samantha and I go home from the university, but the house in front of us was something else.
It's a modern two-story house featuring a sleek white and gray exterior, complemented by brown wooden-textured walls on one section. A balcony with a glass railing adds to its contemporary appeal, while the flat roof and numerous glass windows create an airy, open feel.
I think I'm not supposed to be here, Did her parents allow this? I couldn't imagine they'd be comfortable with their daughter inviting a boy into their household.
I held my bag tight, my heart beating fast and cold sweat dropping from my head. nervous of what was to come.
"Should we ring the door bell?" Ella asked as we stood in front of the door.
"Alright." I replied as I also message Samantha to tell her of our arrival.
As she ring the door bell. A moment of silence covered us, waiting for Samantha. the air feeling thick and heavy.
Then someone opened the door. A girl in wearing a black t-shirt wearing a pajama pants. Her hair curly and brown. Her eyes shining as the light hits it.
"You're here!" Samantha spoke, clearly excited of our arrival.
"Come in!" Samantha waved her hand inviting us in.
Then Ella and I started taking off our shoes as we entered the house. suddenly catching Samantha's curiosity.
"What are you doin?" Samantha asked, her head tilted.
"We're just taking off our shoes." Ella spoke as she finished taking off her footwear.
"What for?" Samantha asked full of curiosity.
"It's what we do when we enter someone's home," Ella explained.
"Ohh, I see." Samantha spoke starting to understand.
As we entered her home, the sight of the interior greeted us. The wood-like floors complemented the white walls and furniture, creating a bright and airy atmosphere. Paintings adorned the walls, adding a touch of personality to the space, which was tidy and clean.
The living room and kitchen were seamlessly connected, forming an open area where you could cook while enjoying a view of the large television in front of the white sofa and coffee table. A plush white carpet added warmth and comfort to the room.
I caught a glimpse of a figure sitting on a bar stool in front of the kitchen island.
"Mum, they're here!" Samantha announced in an enthusiastic voice.
"Oh, hello! You must be Samantha's classmates," her mother replied warmly.
"Good morning, Mrs. Rossi. Thank you for having us today," I said, my feet feeling heavy and my hands shaking as I approached her. I took her hand and pressed it to my forehead — a gesture my parents taught me since childhood. I always did this when visiting relatives, but here, in front of Samantha's mom, it felt different.
My hands were clammy, and I couldn't shake the thought that I might be doing something wrong, even though it was perfectly polite. When Samantha's mom looked surprised and amused, relief washed over me, but the tension in my shoulders didn't fully disappear.
