Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.
It feels soft.
I open my eyes.
I'm back at my room. everything dark. my phone ringing an alarm. I picked it up and opened it to look at the time.
huh?
I'm back at my high school year?
I asked myself as I rub my eyes looking at the date.
The last thing I remember was I was at the mall with Samantha. Then everything went black.
Could this be a dream?
It could be.
So I'm dreaming about the past again huh.
Ever since Samantha's arrival I've been having so much dream about the past.
Could it be a warning?, The world trying to say something to me?.
It could be. but when I think about it my heart sinks.
As I stood up to flick open the lights on my room. I see how messy my room was. Clothes scattered around the room. dirty plates and empty cups in every surface.
As I remembered the day after Francine and Gerald did that to me, I stopped coming to school. I just locked myself in my room for days. though I felt my family's worries I couldn't bring myself to take myself out of my room. So they just brought me food.
I couldn't tell anyone what happened to me.
Though I've been trying to forget about it. I never could.
I'll never will.
I turned off the lights again. and made my way to bed.
As I lay my head down and closed my eyes, the ticking of the clock grew louder, almost deafening.
Suddenly, I heard a girl's voice calling my name. I opened my eyes again, and the room was no longer in darkness—a soft light was slowly spreading, illuminating everything around me.
What is this?
As the light spread across the room, inching closer to my bed, just as it was about to reach me, I heard the clock again.
Tick. Tock. Tick Tock.
Time was running.
I open my eyes and see the face of a girl with a white hat leaning over me, her expression full of worry.
I feel something soft against my head.
What's going on? Am I back in reality?
"Jonah?" Samantha says softly.
Her voice is warm and gentle, filling me with an unexpected sense of peace. Slowly, I start to realize where I am and what's happening.
My head was lying on her lap.
Feeling a rush of embarrassment, I quickly sat up, regaining my composure.
"What happened?" I ask, my face flushed, avoiding her gaze.
She's gonna think I'm a creep now.
She quickly cupped my face with both hands, making me look directly at her. "Jonah, are you alright?! You passed out!"
I was startled, seeing her eyes almost brimming with tears.
"I'm fine," I replied, trying to reassure her. "It was probably just an adrenaline rush," I added, feeling embarrassed about passing out in front of her.
