Maddy and Logan left the cozy tea room, the sweet aroma of pastries lingering in the air as they descended the softly lit corridor toward the meeting room. Maddy couldn't help but skip a little, her spirits buoyed by the delightful afternoon they'd shared. As she walked, she happily hummed a tune, her bright energy a stark contrast to Logan's more grounded demeanour.
Logan felt Maddy's presence beside him, her arm slightly brushing against his as she clung to him with a casual familiarity that was both annoying and oddly comforting. He shot a sideways glance at her, trying to maintain his tough exterior, but he couldn't help the small grin that tugged at the corner of his mouth. "You know, personal space is a thing, right?" he remarked, his voice a mixture of annoyance and teasing.
Maddy looked up at him, her eyes wide and innocent. "Oh, come on, Logan! Where's the fun in that? You're way too serious! Besides, you can handle it!" She beamed, her cheerfulness infectious.
Logan shook his head, pretending to be irritated as they continued their stroll. "Seriously, kid, one of these days you'll have to learn about boundaries."
Maddy giggled, her laughter light and airy. "But what's the point of having boundaries when we can be friends? I mean, look at us! We're practically best buddies now!"
Logan chuckled softly, his annoyance fading. "Yeah, well, it's going to take some getting used to. Not everyone likes to be so... clingy."
"Oh, pfft! I think it's charming!" she replied, swaying slightly as they walked. "So, what do you think the meeting is about? It feels a bit sudden for Professor X to call everyone together."
Logan furrowed his brow, contemplating her question. "I'm not sure. It could be anything from new missions to some kind of training session. Or maybe he's got some news that concerns all of us."
Maddy's curiosity sparked, her eyes shining with excitement. Logan replied, his tone becoming more serious. "We need to stay vigilant. Professor X usually has a good reason for calling a meeting, especially if he wants everyone there."
"Right! I just hope it's not anything too serious. I mean, I'd love a little adventure, but I don't want anyone getting hurt." Maddy's voice took on a hint of concern, her brows knitting together.
Logan glanced down at her, appreciating her sincerity. "You worry too much, Maddy. We've got a good team. We look out for each other and handle whatever comes our way."
Maddy nodded, her resolve strengthening. "You're right! I just want everyone to be safe. It's like my tea party—fun, lively, and full of good vibes! No dark clouds allowed!"
Logan couldn't help but smile at her metaphor. "Yeah, I like that."
As they approached the meeting room, Maddy felt a flutter of anticipation in her stomach. She squeezed Logan's arm affectionately before letting go, and together, they pushed open the door to the meeting room. The atmosphere shifted as they stepped inside, the presence of the other X-Men filling the space with an air of expectancy. Professor X sat at the head of the table, ready to address the team.
Maddy and Logan took their seats, the lively banter between them giving way to the seriousness of the gathering. Yet, even in that moment of tension, Maddy couldn't help but steal a glance at Logan, her smile returning. No matter what challenges lay ahead, she knew they would face them together, bound by the connections they were forming and the adventures that awaited them.
As the members gathered in the meeting room, the atmosphere shifted from the lightheartedness of Maddy and Logan's conversation to a palpable tension. Maddy settled into her seat, her excitement gradually giving way to an uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach. The other X-Men members took their places around the table, some whispering to one another while others seemed lost in thought, waiting for Professor X to address the group.
