"Hello my darlings! The scores for the competitions are in!" A screen popped into the room that Lucian was in, it showed Melodie happily waving her hand.

Lucian was drenched in crimson red blood. He had somehow managed to destroy a couple dozen monsters. He was proud, perhaps he could even win the competition!

"A screen will soon appear on one of the walls. It will show your performance in this competition. It will show your stats, the amount of monsters defeated, and an evaluation of your abilities! Anyone injured will be immediately healed when the screen appears, prizes and rewards will be given to those with higher scores, of course, there will be a few lucky folks that could have to become a hero themselves! See you next time!" Melodie's shades glinted brightly for a moment before the screen disappeared once again.

Just as said, a screen popped up on the wall that Lucian was facing. He stalked over to it; and as he did, his scratch marks and bruises had miraculously healed. He looked at the bright blue screen, surprised at the contents of it.

The screen displayed his name and many other things he could barely understand. It showed that he had defeated 49 monsters in total. He was apparently an Attacker, and he was Dark and Beast type. It also said that his abilities consisted of being able to find the weaknesses of opponents and unusually powerful physical strength. An arrow in the corner said the words 'Click here for reward!'. Listening to the screen, Lucian clicked on the arrow.

An envelope appeared in his hands, he was surprised to see this. The letter was written to open it later and not to show it to anyone. Lucian didn't know what to do about it. A Letter? Did he fail? What was going on? He sighed. It was worth a shot.

Suddenly, he found himself back at his desk, staring at his project once again. This was probably because of magic, Lucian thought to himself.

"Yo, what happened?" Max said from across the room.

Lucian turned around to see Max in the same sitting down position he was in when the two of them first teleported there.

"Uh, how'd you do?" Max asked.

"I didn't do so well, "Lucian lied, "Didn't get anything either. What about you?"

"I got this cool wrist band!" Max beamed.

Lucian stared at it. It had a golden base and an electric blue gemstone in the middle. It was shining in the dimly lit room.

"Apparently it can increase my speed and make my endurance better!" Max's eyes glowed.

"Wow..." Lucian wondered whether there was anything useful in the envelope he received.

"Sadly, I wasn't chosen to become a hero..." Max pouted, "Looks like I need to train harder! That way, I'll be able to see Melodie!"

"Looks like we both need to train harder!" Lucian shouted.

"Yeah!"

...

It was midnight now, Lucian knew that Max was asleep. He quietly opened the envelope to see a note and a ticket inside. The note read:

"Please board a train at midnight. Tap this part to go to the train immediately. Give the guard this ticket to board. Do not be alarmed when you do not see lights or anyone on the train, it is not commonly used. The train will lead to a small tool shed, do not be nervous. Go inside the shed and you will arrive at your destination."

The note wasn't written in the usual half cursive half normal writing; and it wasn't in its usual super happy and playful tone. It probably wasn't written by the same person who had delivered him the eyepatch and invitation.

Lucian pulled out a piece of paper and a pencil and wrote to Max that he might not come back. He placed it next to the sleeping boy and hurriedly left.

...

Lucian found himself in front of a dark train station. He walked down the stairs to arrive at a dimly lit place. At one of the doors on the train, a faceless man in an officer's outfit stood very still. When Lucian approached the man had suddenly woken up.

"Please present your ticket." He said in a monotone voice.

"Oh, here." Lucian pulled the ticket out of his pocket and handed it to the man.

"Thank you, you may now board the train." The man said, stepping to the side and bowing.

Lucian stepped on the train. Just like in the note, the lights were off and there were no people. He quickly sat down on one of the cushioned seats. The doors quickly sealed shut and left him in the dark silent bullet train.

"Departing for the wilderness." The train announced.

When the train began moving, Lucian felt a slight jolt and the rest of the journey was smooth, it almost felt as though he was flying. On the ride, he quickly fell asleep, after all, it was midnight.

...

By the time Lucian woke up, it was morning and the train had already stopped. When he looked outside, he could see the vermillion sky with its golden sun slowly rising. He rubbed his eye and stood up, slowly walking over. When he had gotten outside, there was indeed a small dark gray shed not too far from him.

When he walked over, it was clearly very run-down and dilapidated. He wondered what was going to happen there. It didn't look like what a hero would live in.

He opened the door and stepped inside. However, there was nothing to step on. The thing that was beneath him was a 90 degree vertical drop.

"AHHHHHHHHHHH!" Lucian screamed, thinking that this was the end of his life.

However, when Lucian was already saying his last words, his landing seemed to slow down. When he opened his eye, he was levitating one foot above the ground. Confused, Lucian quickly stood up, dusting himself off. When he looked up, there was a figure in front of him, their limbs were glinting in the dark. Then, the figure suddenly stepped out to greet him.

"Heya! The fall wasn't too bad was it?" Melodie said, smiling at him.
