(Melodie part continued. If you are uncomfortable with attempted suicide, please skip the part with italics.)
It was dawn so no cars would be driving around at this time. Melodie walked across the highway and laid down on the road. Later in the day, Melodie knew a car would probably hit her or run her head over. She chuckled to herself, it would be a pretty cool-looking death.
Melodie waited about an hour or so. Finally, the first car swished past on the other side of the road. Melodie smiled, she knew that soon it would be her turn.
Just as she thought about this, a truck came rolling over. Melodie glanced at the placement of the wheels. From their location, they would only hit her legs and not her head. Melodie knew that this would hurt and would probably be a painful death. But, if it let her escape, she wasn't going to move.
"Cc-crunch!"
Melodie held back a scream as the searing pain and bleeding plagued her mind. This was what she wanted. This was what she needed to do.
Soon, Melodie hazily watched another car come by. She smiled; this one would finally hit her head. She slowly closed her eyes, waiting for the moment of her eternal rest.
"Crack!" Melodie felt nothing against her head.
When she looked up, a woman with long black hair and a blindfold had stopped the car. Meloddie didn't know what to do, so she quickly closed her eyes again, quickly falling asleep.
...
"Ahh!" Melodie screamed upon waking up.
"You're awake." The woman from before smiled at her.
Melodie glanced at her surroundings. The rooms were mostly white and a curtain surrounded Melodie. This was a hospital
"Why am I here? Why did you save me?!" Melodie cried, tears streamed down her cheeks.
As Melodie continued to cry, the tears wouldn't stop. Suddenly, the woman pulled her into a warm embrace. The woman hugged her with warmth that Melodie had never felt before. Melodie found herself sinking into the embrace, it was so nice.
"Don't worry. Everything will always work out." The woman whispered.
Later, Melodie sipped on some water as the woman explained what had happened. The name of Melodie's savior was Aika. Apparently, both of Melodie's legs had been amputated. Now, only her left arm remained.
"This place is a hospital usually used for people with supernatural powers. We've done a background check on you and found out that you were a child at an orphanage. And, the owner of the orphanage is here to see you."
"What?! I don't want to see him!" Melodie cried.
But right after, the Owner walked in, angrier than ever.
"You little-!" Aika put an arm around him with a dagger to his throat.
"Please refrain from using inappropriate terms in front of a child." She ordered.
"Get this dagger away from me." He snapped.
"Miss! That man's dangerous!" Melodie shouted.
"Don't worry about it." She smiled, "Oh yeah. Would you like it if I killed this man?" Aika pressed the dagger closer to the Owner's neck.
