***The Next Day***
I woke up refreshed from my dream about Mason. It was a pretty nice dream too. He changed his entire attitude and demeanor for a little ol' goodie-two-shoes like me. I sighed though because I know he'd never do anything like that. I'm just wondering when Mason will ever talk to me again. His tall, chocolate skin and low cut wavy hair. His dark eyes and his broad body. Probably never. I got up though and went to go do my business. I washed up and put on my clothes. Today I decided I'd wear blue jean shorts with a 2/4 sleeve white crop top but of course I have to put a t-shirt under it, and I'd wear me some white sandals. I pulled my hair back into a little pony tail. I don't wear any makeup. I just put on the ring my grandmother gave me, a bracelet my best friends bought me for my birthday, and my part of the best friend necklace we bought from Claire's in Sandhills. Something's missing. I looked in my jewelry box for a pair of earrings. I found some diamond studs and put that on. I looked at the time that read 6:34. I leave for the bus at 6:36. "Bye mommy." I said running to her room and giving her a kiss. "Bye baby. Have a good day at school." She says. "Thanks. Have a good day at work." I disarmed the alarm and rushed out the house just locking the bottom lock. I ran to the bus stop and got there at 6:39. At 6:40 she was rolling up the hill. I got on the bus and squeezed in a seat with Amanda and Chelsea. "Man this why yo big butt needs to sit on the inside by the window." Amanda said aggravated. She's not a morning person. "Good morning to you too." I joke. Amanda rolled her eyes. Chelsea was sleep. "Do you know how she's doing with her dad?" I ask Amanda. "Last night I heard them screaming and yelling at each other." She answers. We look over at Chelsea. "You don't think he beats her do you?" I ask curious. Amanda shrugged her shoulders. The rest of the ride to school was silent. Nobody talked and Chelsea was still sleep. About 10 minutes later awe arrived at school. When I get off the bus, the first person I saw was Mason. My heart froze and I instantly tried getting back on the bus. "What are you doing!" Amamda yelled. I backed up and she saw why I was trying to get back on the bus. "Hey Mason!" She yells in a singy voice. He looks back and tilts his head up. He looks at me and winked. "He winked at you! He winked at you!" Amanda says jumping up and down. "Who winked at who." Chelsea asks while rubbing her eyes. "Mason winked at Rebecca." Amanda says. "And." Chelsea says. "And that means that he remembers her and we might finally be popular. This is it. That age of neediness is gone." Amanda says. "Umm, Amanda, you're barely passing your classes so you are you a nerd again?" Chelsea asks. Amanda sucked her teeth. "Whatever." She mumbled. We started walking towards the school doors and inside the building. As soon as I sat down, someone sat beside me. "Good morning sexy." Mason says. I nearly choked on my food. "Sexy?" I ask awkwardly. He nods his head. "I mean, I don't know your actual name and I was calling you what you look like which is sexy." He says traveling his eyes down my body and stopping specifically at my butt. He slowly focuses his focus back to me. He looks down at my ID which is in my lap. "Rebecca." He says. I nod my head. "Well Rebecca you are a beautiful, sexy woman with a beautiful body and a big butt." He says smiling. I drop my fork on my plate. "A big butt." I mock him. He nods his head. "Here. I'll throw away your tray for you." He says taking my tray. I look over at my best friends who were glowing. "I know you liked it." Amanda says. Mason comes back and sits down with us. "So Rebecca." Mason says. I look at him. "Can I have your phone number?" He asks. I nod my head. "You got some paper?" I asked him. "Well sorta." He says. He handed me his arm. I blushed and wrote my number putting hearts and xoxo around it. He wrote his number on my arm but didn't put any decorations. "I'm not an artist. My hearts don't look right." He says. We laugh and continue talking. Next thing we know Orchestra and Band were being dismissed. "Lemme walk with you." He says as I grab my instrument. He takes my instrument from me and walks with me to the orchestra room. "You can't go inside there." I tell him. "Watch me." He says. He walked straight in the orchestra room. He looked for my name and put my instrument up. "Thanks." I say. "You're welcome." He says. "Hug?" He asks. I hug him and he hangs onto me. "You gonna let me go?" I ask. "My bad." He says letting me go. I stare at him. "Hey Mason." Some girl says when she walks in to put away her instrument. He waves and continues on with me. "Sit by me at lunch." He says. "I can't. We have to sit with 4th period." I say. "Aweeee your a good girl." He says walking out the orchestra room with me. I nod my head. "You know what they say about good girls doe." He says. I nod my head again. "So you're a freak hmm. Your a good girl and a quiet girl too." He says. I raise an eyebrow at him. "I'm not quiet. Once you get to know me, I'm really loud." I say. We laugh. "I bet you are." He says winking at me. "Well, Imma go back to my homeroom. See you around." He says. We wave to each other. And I turn around to my best friends standing there with their arms folded across their chest. "What?" I blush. "You ditched us for bad boy Mason. How could you!" Amanda complains. "Oh I'm sorry. If I do recall, it was you who told me to talk to him am I right?" I snapped at Amanda and put my finger in her face. She sucked her teeth and rolled her eyes. "She told me to do this." Chelsea says. I laugh at her ignoring Amanda. Amanda is acting real petty for no reason whatsoever.
