Judai was still out with Saint. I had taken Bronx and Karen to the lake and had texted Judai to bring a picnic basket back with her.
The kids and I had stopped at a gas station and picked up a Coke each and some crisps to keep us going until Judai arrived. Karen was showing Bronx how to skip stones on the lake and he was failing miserably. They were both laughing at his failed attempts and, at one stage, they went exploring and came back blushing.
"You two been making out?"
Bronx went a deeper shade of red, "No!"
I laughed, "Yeah? Tell that to your face."
Karen sat Indian style next to me and asked where Judai was. As she asked, a flustered Judai and heavily guylinered Saint walked up, "Hey guys! Sorry about the wait, we had some stuff to do."
The kids all sat around us on the ground and Karen asked us about how we first met. Judai was handing out slices of pizza and more Coke to everyone and nodded in my direction to go ahead. "Well, when we were about your age, I moved into town. Our mom's met at Temple and soon, we met each other at my house. We knew each other from school and Judai and Tiff were the nerdy girls in the corner. I was a math nerd so I started helping the girls with their math in exchange for help in English and German. Ironic since we're Jewish, right? Judai and I spent a lot of time together and got very close. I just never had the guts to tell her I liked her."
Karen's head was on Bronx's shoulder and he was smiling now. I placed a kiss on top of Judai's head. "We kept in touch until about 2005. To this day, every time I play Nobody puts baby in a corner, I think of Judai. It's her favourite song. Somewhere between Infinity On High and Folie, I slipped and lost touch. Then, one day while we were on hiatus, I heard Nobody puts baby in a corner. I emailed the last address I had for her and we kept in touch here and there. Until I came home and asked her to meet up. It was like I'd never left. She'd waited for me all these years and when I had her, I just knew I never wanted to be without her again."
Karen was now teary eyed and Bronx was smiling. "You two are amazing."
Even Saint had smiled slightly, "Yeah, yeah enough with the mushy stuff. Let's eat."
We all tucked in silently while looking out on the lake. This marriage thing was working out for me so far. I put my arm around Judai and smiled. This was just the beginning.
AN and thus ends Caffeine Cold :( had an amazing time writing this book. The sequel, inspired by Life After Bae by LeViNeFrEaK will be up soon (maybe later today,) and it's called, "Hot To The Touch."
Thanks to everyone who's read and voted on this and a special thank you again to LeViNeFrEaK for being the inspiration behind the words.
