Mephone trudged along, following cobs as he stared down at his hands. Nothing felt real anymore, it was never real, but at the time it felt real to him. The world looked empty, nothing but grass and the little evidence that there even was life on the terrain.

"Pick up the pace Mephone, I don't have all day" Mephone heard that familiar voice call to him. He looked up from his hands to meet his gaze. Cobs was barely looking over his shoulder.

"Did you have fun?" Cobs stopped, looking out at the endless field, Mephone followed.

"Huh?" His voice was quiet, like it was in the early days.

"Well after all that time prancing around with your little toys, I'd at least hope you enjoyed yourself" Mephone could tell he was taunting him with the brash tone he used, and the way he shot him that smirk he wished he didn't recognize. Mephone stayed silent.

"Yknow, I really am impressed with you Mephone, you put a lot of time into that show" a bitter laugh sounded out in the empty air. Mephone looked back down at his feet, at the grass as it brushed against his ankles

"How long were you watching?" Questions, he had a lot of those. Cobs hated questions, he remembered that.

"Does it matter? It's over now. Hurry up it's time to go home" it took a second for Mephone to move again, he picked up his pace to catch up with cobs who was already a few steps ahead. Mephone wasn't ready for it to end, he wasn't ready to go back.

"I wanted to stay a bit longer" cobs didn't bother looking back at Mephone, he just scoffed.

"Mephone, you can't generate what you want this time", Cobs stopped walking again, hands behind his back as he looked out at the dark sky, "just something that comes with being real." He didn't know how to respond to that, so he didn't. He stayed silent, again.

"So, is this it?" Cobs turned to fully look at him this time, mouth drawn into a thin line as he cut his eyes at Mephone.

"What do you think?" He asked blandly, gesturing to the world around them.

"But, this wasn't how I wanted it to end!" he protested, his voice raised just a bit as cobs met his gaze.

"It wasn't exactly my vision either, Mephone" he grumbled, locking his gaze onto Mephone for a second longer

"No." He muttered, looking back down at his hands, he didn't want to look at cobs anymore.

"You didn't think this could go on forever, did you Mephone?" He chuckled bitterly, rolling his eyes as he split his gaze. Mephone didn't reply, but really it was all cobs needed to answer his question.

"I see, you really have learned absolutely nothing" Mephone sighed, his steps slowing.

"So this is the end?" Cobs nodded curtly.

"Yes, you had your fun, now it's time to go."

This was it.

The end.
