💗 CH-7 💗
The morning air is still when Alexander arrives at Magnus's room where Magnus has been staying. Alec rarely leaves his room, and Magnus-though living under the same roof-barely speaks, burdened by the heavy atmosphere and his own past. Silence has become their way of coping, especially for Magnus.
Today, however, Magnus faces a different challenge: his first ultrasound. Alexander, serving as both his midwife and friend, arrives to take him to the hospital where he works. The day feels important, yet fragile, much like Magnus himself.
Alexander steps inside the house and finds Magnus standing by the doorway, arms wrapped protectively around his stomach. There is a faint frown on his face, as if he's bracing himself for the unknown. Alexander, sensing the tension, offers a soft, understanding smile.
Alec: Ready for your ultrasound, Magnus? (His voice is gentle, careful not to disrupt the quiet that has become so familiar in this house).
Magnus gives a slight nod, not trusting himself to speak. He doesn't say much these days, ever since he moved into Alec's house. The silence feels like a safe place, a space where words don't have to carry the weight of pain and fear. But today, despite his apprehension, he knows he must go.
They leave together, walking out into the early morning light. The streets are quiet, the sky slowly brightening as the sun rises. Alexander drives them to the hospital, his presence calm and steady. Magnus sits in the passenger seat, staring out the window, his hand resting lightly on his stomach. His thoughts are far away, tangled in the uncertainty of the day ahead.
Alexander doesn't push for conversation, knowing that Magnus needs the space to process everything. The silence between them is comfortable, born out of understanding rather than awkwardness. They have shared this silence many times before.
When they arrive at the hospital, Alexander guides Magnus through the hallways, each step bringing them closer to the ultrasound room. Magnus moves slowly, his steps hesitant, his eyes flicking around nervously. Hospitals remind him of too many things-of pain, of loss, of fear. But Alexander is here, and that makes it a little easier.
Once they reach the ultrasound room, Alexander turns to Magnus, his expression soft but professional.
Alec : We'll take it slow. You're in good hands.Magnus gives another small nod and changes into the hospital gown. Lying down on the table, confusion shallow him but Alec guides him in every steps . He stares up at the ceiling, his heart racing. He's not sure what to expect. The idea of seeing his baby for the first time both excites and terrifies him. He's not sure he's ready, but there's no turning back now.
Alexander begins setting up the ultrasound machine, his hands moving with practiced ease. The room is quiet, the soft hum of the machine filling the space. Magnus's eyes dart nervously toward Alexander, but Alexander gives him a reassuring smile.
Alec: This might feel a little cold,(he says, squeezing some gel onto Magnus's stomach. )
Magnus flinches slightly at the cool sensation, his body tensing. Alexander notices and places a hand gently on Magnus's arm. "You're doing great. Just try to relax."
Magnus doesn't respond, but his muscles slowly loosen under Alexander's touch. He watches as Alexander glides the ultrasound probe over his stomach, eyes fixed on the screen beside them. And then, suddenly, there it is-the first image of his babies.
Magnus's breath catches in his throat as he stares at the screen. His babies. The small, flickering heartbeats pulses on the monitor, fragile and new. Magnus's eyes widen, his hand trembling slightly as he grips the edge of the table. For a moment, everything else falls away-the silence, the pain, the fear. All that exists is this tiny life growing inside him.
