💗CH-16💗

Magnus sits in the dim light of his room, the silence of the night settling around him. His hands rest against his swollen belly, feeling the weight of his pregnancy, and for a moment, his thoughts drift away. This child growing inside him, the twins, are not the product of love, at least not in the way he had hoped.

He can feel the first soft flutter—a gentle movement from the babies within him—and his breath catches in his throat. It’s the first time. His eyes close as he presses his hand to his stomach, a faint smile forming despite the complex emotions swirling within him.

His children. The idea of them stirs a deep ache in his chest, a longing for something he doesn’t yet understand. But as the flutter of tiny movements continues, that ache turns to something bittersweet, mixed with a heavy feeling of sadness.

The father of these children isn’t an good alpha, though Magnus wishes it were. Instead, it’s someone else, someone who had once promised him everything but only gave him cruelty in return. Magnus know one  thing that he will love his children fully. His husband, the one who put him in this position, doesn’t care for him. There’s no tenderness, no affection between them. Just coldness, anger, and a sense of ownership that runs through everything his husband does.

The thought of his husband’s harsh words, the physical and emotional cruelty, fills Magnus with a knot of disgust. He’s carrying the child of a man who has broken him in ways he cannot fully express. Magnus knows deep down that he shouldn’t be feeling any sort of connection to the twins yet, but he can’t help it.

Another kick—this one stronger than the last—and Magnus’s breath catches again. His hand gently presses over the spot, as if trying to soothe the baby. He tries to push away the memories of his husband’s harsh treatment, tries to focus on the life inside him. But it’s hard.

The twins deserve better than what he’s been given. They deserve love, tenderness, and care. They deserve a father who will cherish them, not one who will use them to hold control over him. As his stomach tightens with another kick, Magnus whispers under his breath, the words filled with an emotion he can't quite name.

“I’ll love you two,” he says, his voice shaky but resolute. “I’ll protect you, no matter what.”

The movement from the babies, the first kick, has left him with a lingering ache in his chest. It’s a mixture of hope and despair, a recognition that, no matter how cruel their father is, these babies are a part of him. And though his husband’s cruelty has scarred him in ways that will take time to heal, Magnus will protect them. They’ll be his reason to fight, his reason to find strength again.

Magnus looks down at his belly once more, feeling the tiny movements inside, and a tear slips down his cheek. "You’ll know love," he whispers, his voice thick with emotion. "You’ll know love, because I’ll give it to you."

And for the first time, he feels that he can do this, that he can carry this burden—because no matter the pain, no matter the cruelty from the man who should have been his partner, these children are his future. They will be loved. They will be safe.

Alec stands frozen in the doorway, his mind a whirlwind of emotions. He can feel his heart pounding in his chest, a steady rhythm that seems too loud in the otherwise quiet room. He watches Magnus from afar, his amber eyes soft as he sit on the bed facing the wall , alec can only see his back side. He doesn’t know why it’s so hard for him to walk over, to speak the words that have been weighing on his heart for so long.

Magnus doesn’t know how Alec feels. How could he? Alec has kept it all hidden, buried beneath layers of duty and responsibility. But the truth is—he’s in love with him. He always has been. From the moment they met, something in Alec shifted, a deep connection he couldn’t explain, even if he tried. But now, Magnus is carrying another alpha's children, and Alec’s feelings results something like jealousy.
