[We had been on the road to Vermilion City for several days now. We had just taken a break so Brock and I could check the map and look for some kind of landmark that could tell us where we were]
Brock:There should be a Pokémon Center not far from here.
Gaia:The question, though, is; where is it?
[Misty sighed in exhaustion as she sat on a stump and drank water from her water bottle] Misty:Let's just admit it; we're lost!
Ash:Well, yeah, but we know Vermilion City is located southward, so we just have to keep going south.
Pikachu:Pika pi.
[Brock picked up a compass to check the point of it] Brock:Ash's right. And according to the map, the Pokémon Center is also located southward.
Misty:Finally some good news [Misty groaned] I want to visit Vermilion City for its luxurious cruises and beautiful water Pokémon.
Ash:And while you do that, Gaia and I are gonna challenge the Gym and get our third badges! [Ash grinned widely]
Gaia:Yep! [I nodded with a smile]
Pikachu:Pika pika!
Brock:Alright, then let's keep going [Brock declared]
[We grabbed our bags and walked for a couple of miles when we stumbled upon a tall rock on the side of the road. There was nothing out of the ordinary, except there was a wild Charmander resting on top of it]
Gaia:A wild Charmander? [I said in slight disbelief]
Ash:Whoa... The starter Pokémon are really hard to find in the wild [Ash said in awe]
[Charmander looked down at us with curious eyes, but then it got a little sad before it rested its head on the rock. It was then I noticed something wasn't right with the flame on its tail]
Gaia:Um... Isn't the flame on Charmander's tail too small?
Brock:You're right, Gaia [Brock said] From the looks of it, this Charmander seems weak.
Misty:Shouldn't we bring it to the Pokémon Center and have it checked out?
Ash:Yeah, and I'll catch it! [Ash nodded as he grabbed an empty Poké Ball] Poké Ball, go!
[He threw the device at Charmander, but the lizard Pokémon used its tail to hit it and throw it back into Ash's hands] Charmander:Chaar...
Ash:Huh? It doesn't want to get caught? [Ash wondered as he stared at the Poké Ball in his hands]
Pikachu:Chuu?
Gaia:Charmander must have a reason why [I said as I grabbed Dune's Poké Ball] Let me take care of this. Dune, come out!
Dune:Krokorok!
[I bent my knees a little to have better eye contact with my Pokémon] Gaia:Dune, do you think you could ask Charmander why it doesn't want us to help it?
Dune:Krok! [He nodded]
[He walked over to the rock and climbed up to the top. He managed to sit down on his backside next to Charmander before they started talking. The wild Charmander made a weird grimace as Dune looked stunned at what he was being told]
Ash:You think you'll be able to understand what Firered tells us when he comes down, sis?
Gaia:We'll see", I've been trying to teach myself and my Pokémon some kind of secret language so we can understand each other better.
Brock:That's actually a smart move [Brock commented] If Pokémon and Trainers learn to understand each other, their bond could improve and get better.
Ash:I never thought of that before [Ash said as he turned to Pikachu],But I think we communicate pretty well. Don't you think so, Pikachu?
