SIX
QUEEN & GHOST
MIAMI, FLORDIA"Y'ALL LOOK NERVOUS. IS IT BECAUSE YOU'VE never played for Beyoncé before?" Normani teased as the boys carried their bags to the coach busses from the hotel lobby. Upon seeing her, Dave hardened his gaze. "You get on my damn nerves you understand that? You and that mouth."
She waited until he stepped onto the bus before responding. "What are you going to do about it?"
When he mumbled something under his breath she couldn't hear, she smiled. "Exactly fool."
The boys all sat in different seats and soon the tour bus started moving.
"Hey. I know this is your first concert but it's really nothing to be worried about. Parkwood will make sure everything goes by smoothly," Anthony assured and Keith sent him a nod that said he was grateful for those words.
"Yeah," Ryan nodded. "It's like a walk in the park."
His eyes moved to hers and he quickly looked down again. The confidence he had last night wore off because he was back to being nervous around her. Dave and Trey looked at each other in confusion before shaking their heads and minding their business.
"So how long y'all been in the music industry?" Sandra asked, tilting her head to the side. Trey grabbed his water bottle and took a sip before putting it away. "A couple of years now."
"Okay," She verbalized. "And how'd you meet?"
"American Idol," Dave joked causing chuckles from Tanya and Mike.
"Trey?" Robyn whined. "Why yah ass so far?"
"I'm two seats ahead of you," He said, looking back. She gestured for him to come closer and he sighed. He moved back to the seat next to hers and she took a minute to look at him. "Are yah scared? It can get scary on stage. If it was me, I would ignore everybody. I would just play me music."
"I'm not scared."
"Yuh look scared. Just take meh advice, don't look at da crowd," She advised.
"I've played before crowds, Robyn," He said and suddenly, he groaned when he felt his ear being pulled by her. "Hard ears yuh won't hear, own way you gine feel."
When they arrived at the venue, they could already see the thousands of fans who waited in the front. The tour bus parked in the back and they all stepped out, grabbing their equipment. The dancers came out of their tour bus and joined with them. It was then Trey, Keith, and Dave were able to be fully introduced to them. There was Amari, Aahkilah Cornelius, Ai Shimatsu, Aliya Janel, Alannah Wilhite, Amari Marshall, Brianna Pavon, Kyndall Harris, Lisa Sainvil, Nerita McFarlane, Simone Alston, Trinity Joy, Jus't Chase, Kevin "Konkrete" Davis Jr., Rob Bynes, and Zavion Brown.
The Crew helped carry some of the bags inside backstage while the band scanned their passes. After passing security, they were finally backstage.
"Yuh saw all those people?" Robyn asked before pointing to her head. "Don't let it get to yuh."
"Yes ma'am," Trey said, sending her a wink and she rolled her eyes. The singers traveled to their dressing rooms while the band headed to their own. Their concert attire was black slacks, white dress shirts with designers, and black dress shoes. Sandra was given the option of wearing a pantsuit like the boys or wearing a black and white dress that was off the shoulders.
She chose the dress.
For the next hour, they all sat into vanity chairs and allowed the artists to make them look well groomed. Finally, they handed them earpieces so they could hear announcements and questions from the stage managers. After, it was time for them to offload their instruments. Anthony played with his saxophone, Sandra tested her trumpet and Tanya ran scales on her trombone.
