THIRTY-THREE
QUEEN & GHOST
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA

BEYONCE SAT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WITH her blood boiling. The tension was thick between them and an unsettling feeling stayed in her chest. It was funny how she always felt comfortable in his presence whether he was Trey or Ghost but now? She couldn't even stand the sight of him with his new identity. She felt as if she was a puppet in his game and she wondered what else he was lying about. Meanwhile, Kairo looked over at her, a smile on his lips as he began to drive off. For a second, he didn't believe she was here.

She looked too beautiful, someone so stunning couldn't possibly exist. There was good looking and then there was Beyoncé. He was just grateful to be back in her presence even if he did have to threaten her date and blackmail her. He slowly reached over, resting his hand on her thigh. When she pulled his hand away, he returned it to the stick, as he continued driving to the date he had planned.

"Don't speak to me right now." She said, her voice stern and demanding. He peeked at her and then looked back at the road. "Baby."

"I'm not having this conversation with you." Kairo narrowed his eyes, surprised by her unexpected attitude. He thought after all this time being separated, she would at least be a little happy to see him but that just wasn't the case. She sat here, almost like she hated him and a part of him felt wounded by that realization. "Look, I understand you're upset and you have every right to be but what we not finna do is get disrespectful."

"That was disrespectful?" She asked, raising her eyebrows. "Not the lying that you did for months? The lying that you did when I told you I loved you? Not the acting like my friend and then going to hide yourself like a coward so you could fuck me? That wasn't disrespectful?"

"You know I ain't mean it like that."

"No, I don't. I don't know anything because you're a fucking liar. Matter of fact, stop the car." She tugged on the door, grabbing her purse in her other hand. He made sure the car was locked so she couldn't walk out and continued driving. "I'm not stopping the car, Giselle."

"Stop the car or I'm calling 911."

"You keep threatening me with 911 as if it's gon do something to me. I don't give a fuck about 12 and I'm not stopping the car. I ain't take you from your date just you can walk on the damn street alone at night. Just calm down—," She turned to him, slapping her purse against his chest continuously. "Don't tell me to calm down!"

He pushed her purse away, the car swerving on the road before he jerked it back. He looked out the window, seeing they were now driving on a bridge. "You tryna make us crash? Is that what you tryna do because then I'll just drive off the fucking bridge right now. You need to fix that damn attitude, I'm not bout to tell you again."

"Attitude." She giggled painfully. "Me being hurt and upset that you lied is all because I have an attitude problem. You are unbelievable."

"Giselle, please." He groaned and she smacked his chest again. Kairo grabbed the purse from her hand and threw it to the backseat so she couldn't hit him anymore.

"You know what, fuck this. I'm not doing this pathetic shit. Drop me back with Trevante, at least I know I'll be happier in his presence." Beyonce gritted out and his grip on the steering wheel tightened to the point his knuckles turned white. "Let's get one thing straight. You ain't going back to no man."
