THIRTY-ONE
QUEEN & GHOST
MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA

BEYONCÉ WOKE UP IN HER PRESIDENTIAL suite, hearing her heartbeat on a machine to her left. She rubbed her head, looking around the suite's master bedroom. About 5 security men stood inside the room and 6 outside in the living room. There were flowers everywhere and gifts from the dancers, singers and the band. They had all stayed for a couple of hours but since tomorrow, they were heading to a new city, Solange demanded they get some rest.

When Beyoncé turned her head, she noticed Solange and her doctor having a conversation, their hushed voices bouncing off the walls. When they realized she was awake, they entered inside. Solange placed her hand on her sister's shoulder. "Hey, you feeling alright?"

She nodded softly, cringing due to the dryness of her throat. After being assisted with a glass of water, she leaned her head on the pillow again and sighed.

"... lots of stress... anxiety levels were extremely high..." Her doctor began to talk to her but for some reason, she couldn't hear him. Her mind traveled to the past few days and a deep pain occurred in her chest. Her heart was hurting, she was in pain. Ever since she was young, all she's ever wanted was for someone to love her the way she loves them. Shawn had hurt her repeatedly and when she finally believed she found someone who valued and respected her, it turned out to be one big lie.

She only really had herself.

"I'm sorry, Solange." She whispered, her eyes beginning to grow blurry. The doctor finished speaking, his eyebrows furrowed together in confusion. Solange gestured for him to leave before sitting on her bed, as Beyoncé continued, "I should have listened to you. I don't... I don't know what came over me."

"No, I'm sorry." She sighed and shook her head. "I should have listened to you too. Sometimes, I just get so confrontational, I don't think about who I hurt. I shouldn't have exposed him like that and now Tyrone paid the price."

Beyoncé looked at Solange and noticed a tear falling down her cheek. She pulled her into a tight hug, whispering how much she loved her. Solange knew she wouldn't tell anyone what Trey or Kairo did because Beyoncé cared for him deeply. Even though she didn't like him, she couldn't break her sister's heart more.

"You love him?" She whispered and Beyonce only pressed her lips together, looking out the large windows of her suite. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door and Julius walked inside the bedroom with another guard. She lifted herself as her body tensed. She didn't need to be a rocket scientist to know who was at the door.

She nodded at Julius and he mumbled something into his earpiece. Soon, Kairo was allowed access to the suite and walked inside. He had a couple of bags in his hands and when she saw him, she quickly looked away.

"Hey." He awkwardly mumbled, offering her a gentle grin. When he noticed she refused to look his way, he cleared his throat. His body was restless and he wasn't able to calm his nerves. Ever since she fainted, he had been on edge. He found himself buying candy, takeout Chinese, and anything else he thought may help her cheer up. He wasn't asking for her to forgive him but he didn't want her to be upset.

"I got Chinese and I think you'll enjoy the dumplings. Then, I got candy from the store and rented out a couple of movies-,"

"I don't eat food from strangers. It's a safety procedure." She said and slowly his shoulders dropped. Solange looked at him and held her sister's hand, showing her she wasn't alone. Kairo frowned, looking at the bags, and placed them down. He slowly sat in the chair next to her bed and Solange took a small step back- an action that didn't go unnoticed by him.
