school had never sat right with the students of koz high. in many cases, students of the high school would go up to the highest floor of the campus, seeking comfort in the silent yet warm atmosphere of the art, music and dance rooms. koz high was an arts school after all.

in this case, park sungho, the schools quiet yet sociable guitarist of the school music band, boynextdoor, felt that he needed some time for himself to unwind and get some things off his chest. while the other students were having their lunch break, chatting and gossiping with their friends like any regular group of high school students, he sat down on his stool located near the windows of the music room, picking up his guitar and aligning his fingers to the correct chords on the fretboard before strumming. melodic notes lit up the quiet floor of the campus.

y/n, who coincidentally needed a breather herself, left the canteen and went up to that same floor and headed towards the art room, the only room in koz high in which she showcased passion and dedication. before getting the chance to pick up her paintbrush, the melodic tunes coming from the boy flooded her ears, leaving her intrigued as to who was behind the tunes.

she stood up from her chair, walking towards the music room not too far away from the art room she was originally in. her eyes caught the sight of sungho strumming his guitar with such precision and focus, causing her to lean against the door, taken in by the sounds.

shes never made any form of communication with sungho ever in the few years of high school despite them being classmates in a few courses. this time, after truly seeing his passionate form, really made her want to start a bond with the boy. catching him in the midst of playing his guitar really caught her attention.

"this piece sounds good, right?" sungho spoke, breaking y/n from her daydreams. she looked at him with wide eyes, realisation striking her that she was caught red handed.

"i didn't mean to watch you...but this piece caught my attention from the art room." she spoke up to reply, scratching her nape in embarrassment. he chuckled and shook his head, indicating his understanding to the current situation.

for the rest of the afternoon, sungho and y/n bonded for the first time, getting to know each other better along with the two teaching each other art and music. as the two art students chatted and spent time together, they realised that they weren't much different, both liking quiet spaces to unwind and relishing in the world of arts. guess catching sungho in the midst wasn't too bad after all for y/n.
