They didn't make it to the ship the easy way.
Long story short, the romans reached them, Hedge shot the boys out of the sky, Leo almost fell from eagle Frank right to his death, Jason played superman again, more romans appeared from gods know where, the normal stuff.
On a good and satisfying note, Ivy at least got to use her vines to yank Octavian hard against the ground and hopefully managed to kill the one brain cell he had left.
On a very bad and stressful note, Annabeth decided it was a good idea to head through all the havoc to find that stupid map and make it back before the Argo II left. Luckily (and because Annabeth is awesome) she did. Though Ivy still didn't like it.
Now, Ivy and Piper were trying to get two very dizzy Percy and Jason to have some water after they used way too much energy in creating a storm in order to get their ship off the shore and in route to some place which's name Ivy didn't pay attention to.
"Come on, Paul," Ivy urged Percy as she held a glass of water out to him. "You're literally water boy, you're supposed to want this."
The boy let out a breathy chuckle and finally weakly opened his mouth to accept the water. Beside her, Jason did the same with Piper's.
Ivy glanced around where Hazel and Frank stood just out of earshot, having a (sort of) heated argument that ended as soon as the girl spotted Leo. If Ivy had to guess, it was definitely about Frank (hopefully) accidentally dropping Leo.
After everyone was in the right conditions again (for Percy and Jason, decent conditions), they gathered at the mast.
Frank scowled like he was trying hard to turn into a bulldog. "No sign of pursuit," he pointed out.
"Or land," Hazel added.
Ivy stared out at the horizon. Like Hazel said, there was nothing but water. Ivy had only been through the open sea once before, during their quest for the golden fleece. Just like that time, this one was starting to really suck.
She brought her eyes back to the ship when Leo spoke to the girl currently glued to her side, "Did you find the map you wanted?"
Ananbeth nodded, though she looked pale. That and the way she shifted even closer to Ivy told her her search hadn't gone swiftly.
Ivy wrapped an arm around her waist in reassurance. She could tell, from the fear in her eyes that the blonde was trying to hide, that it probably had something to do with spiders."I'll have to study it," Annabeth replied, as if that was the end of the subject. "How far are we from those coordinates?"
"At top rowing speed, about an hour," Leo answered. "Any idea what we're looking for?"
"No," she admitted. "Percy?"
Percy raised his head. His green eyes were bloodshot and droopy. "The Nereid said Chiron's brothers were there, and they'd want to hear about that aquarium in Atlanta. I don't know what she meant, but..." He paused, like he'd used up all his energy saying that much. "She also warned me to be careful. Keto, the goddess at the aquarium: she's the mother of sea monsters. She might be stuck in Atlanta, but she can still send her children after us. The Nereid said we should expect an attack."
Lovely.
"Wonderful," Frank muttered.
Jason tried to stand, which wasn't a good idea. Piper grabbed him to keep him from falling over, and he slid back down the mast.
"Can we get the ship aloft?" he asked. "If we could fly—"
"That'd be great," Leo agreed. "Except Festus tells me the port aerial stabilizer got pulverized when the ship raked against the dock at Fort Sumter."
