Avery's POV

Jeremy and I got a lift from Caroline who's date was one of the hosts so she had spare space to take us with her.

When we arrived me and Jeremy left her knowing she would be looking for her date and wouldn't appreciate us hanging around.

We went into the Mikaelson's mansion seeing the large groups of people dressed neatly. The music was calm and elegant. This whole atmosphere was nothing like anything I had been to. I was quite a casual person and didn't like things like this, it was too fake and made everyone seem stuck up and snobbish.

Maybe my opinions were biased seen as I grew up in a family who were never invited anywhere but I enjoyed the difference in events like this an the events I had ever been invited too.

Jeremy took my hand in his as we walked down a couple of steps to everyone else that was here. Caroline came in soon after but walked off further into the people obviously looking for her date. I knew her date was one of my friends brothers.

Rebekah Mikaelson's family was throwing this ball so I presumed it was her brother Caroline was coming with seen as I knew she had four brothers and a Mother who all lived here.

"Would you like to dance?" He chuckled.

"Of course," I giggled knowing he'd be very over dramatic in this dance.

We danced to the music but we probably looked really stupid. Probably, we obviously looked idiotic dancing to music neither of us had ever heard, and doing a dance neither of us knew.

We danced and span to the music just one thing faulted our dance, my feet didn't work together to let me dance. I fell to the ground trying to do it elegantly but falling wasn't elegant especially if I was doing it.

A couple of people looked our way but saw me laughing and turned away.

"Are you okay?" Jeremy laughed putting his hand out to help me up.

"I'm fine," I sighed taking his hand and letting him help me up.

"Your such a clutz," He chuckled leading me other to the drinks table.

"I'm not a clutz, my feet don't like me and I like the floor," I shrugged.

He chuckled at me once again grabbing two glasses of something and handed me one. I sipped on it knowing it was alcoholic before I started.

As I was drinking my drink I saw Jeremy looking off into the unknown. I followed his gaze to girl maybe just older than us. She had curly black hair and a white and gold dress on.

"Are you staring?" I whispered but I burst out laughing knowing it wouldn't sound how I wanted it.

"No," He blushed. He actually blushed.

"Don't lie Jer, she's pretty and I'm sure if you go talk to her she'll dance with you and maybe you could get a date," I smiled.

Jeremy wasn't lucky in the dating department, both of his ex-girlfriends died, then he dated his sisters best friend but they ended on good terms.

"I can't speak to her, she's here with Damon," He frowned.

"You and I both know Damon doesn't date, he loves Elena not that girl you can tell by how he is with her even at a distance. If he liked her they'd be standing closer not at a distance and he has a scowl on his face," I stated.

"Can't you go speak to her for me?" He pouted looking like a lost puppy.

"What are best friends for?" I smiled, "By right back."
