The practice room was filled with the echoes of music and laughter, the atmosphere alive with energy as Stray Kids rehearsed for their upcoming concert. Jeongin stood off to the side, his heart racing as he watched his members dance and sing, their passion shining through every move.
Today, however, his mind was elsewhere. While he loved being with his friends, there was someone he couldn't stop thinking about—Deji. They had shared countless memories together, but lately, Jeongin felt a tug in his heart, a desire to express something more than friendship.
As the music faded, he took a deep breath, turning to his fellow members. "Hey, I think I need a break for a minute," he said, his voice slightly shaky.
"Sure, man. We'll keep practicing," Changbin replied with a supportive nod, while the others resumed their dance.
Jeongin stepped outside to the small courtyard, the late afternoon sun casting a warm glow. He leaned against the wall, the cool breeze helping to calm his racing heart. He pulled out his phone, scrolling through the photos of Deji that always made him smile—her laughter, her creativity, her unwavering support.
Suddenly, an idea sparked in his mind. What if he wrote a song for her? He had always loved songwriting, but this felt different. It felt personal.
He settled onto a nearby bench and began to jot down lyrics in his notebook, words flowing easily as he thought of Deji and all the moments they had shared. He wanted to capture how she made him feel—happy, inspired, and alive.
"Underneath the starry sky,
You light up my darkest nights.
With every laugh, every glance,
You've got me caught in this sweet romance."He hummed a melody to himself, letting the words take shape. The sun dipped lower in the sky, casting a golden hue as he lost himself in the creative process, the world around him fading away.
After a while, he looked up and noticed Deji walking toward him, her hair gently blowing in the wind. His heart raced at the sight of her, and he quickly tucked the notebook away, a nervous smile forming on his lips.
"Hey! What are you doing out here all alone?" she asked, her eyes bright with curiosity.
"Just needed some fresh air," he replied, trying to act casual. "How about you?"
"I was just passing by and thought I'd see if you needed anything," she said, stepping closer. "You look deep in thought."
Jeongin chuckled nervously. "Just working on some lyrics. Nothing serious."
"Can I hear them?" Deji asked, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Uh, I haven't polished them yet," he stammered, feeling a rush of embarrassment. "But I can sing a little bit if you want."
"Please!" she encouraged, sitting down next to him, her attention fully on him.
Taking a deep breath, Jeongin began to sing softly, his voice barely above a whisper. "Underneath the starry sky,
You light up my darkest nights..."As he sang, he felt his confidence grow, the words flowing more easily as he poured his heart into the melody. He watched Deji's reaction, her eyes widening in surprise and admiration.
"Jeongin, this is beautiful!" she exclaimed when he finished. "You wrote this for me?"
"Sort of... It's inspired by you," he admitted, a blush creeping up his cheeks. "I just wanted to express how much you mean to me."
Deji's gaze softened, and for a moment, the world around them faded into the background. "I had no idea you felt that way," she said quietly, her voice full of emotion.
"Honestly, I've been wanting to tell you for a while," Jeongin confessed, his heart racing. "I just didn't know how."
"Well, I'm glad you did," she said, her smile radiant. "I feel the same way, you know. You make my life so much brighter."
"Really?" he asked, his heart swelling with hope.
"Yes! I've been scared to admit it, but I've liked you for a while now," she replied, her cheeks flushing slightly. "I just didn't know if you felt the same."
In that moment, everything clicked into place. Jeongin felt a wave of relief and joy wash over him. "So, what do we do now?" he asked, his voice filled with excitement.
"Maybe we could take this to the next level? I'd love to go on a date with you," she suggested, her eyes shining with hope.
Jeongin grinned widely, feeling as if he were floating. "I'd love that too."
As they sat there, the sun setting behind them, casting a warm glow around them, Jeongin knew this was just the beginning. He had written a song for her, and in return, he had discovered a love that was as beautiful and inspiring as the lyrics he had penned.
With Deji by his side, he felt ready to face anything, knowing that their hearts beat in harmony, just like the melody of the song he had created.
