I wake up at 6:30 a.m. and immediately have a smile on my face. Today I'm flying to Korea. I can't believe it myself, but I'm so excited. I've already packed all my things. I've probably packed way too much, but better too much than too little. Amina is coming to pick me up at 8 a.m., so I should get ready now. I get up and change. I put on a black t-shirt, a gray sweater and black sweatpants over it. We're going to be flying for quite a long time, so I want to be dressed as comfortably as possible. I check again to make sure I've packed everything and then I leave my room and go into the kitchen where my parents are already waiting for me. "Good morning," I say with joy in my voice. My parents look at me and my mother is the first to speak. "So? Are you ready?" My father doesn't even look at me. "Yes, more than ready," I answer her happily. "Good, make yourself something to eat and then go." I don't continue the conversation because I know my mother and I know that she is not very talkative and my father hardly ever talks to me anyway, except when he is in a bad mood and then takes out his anger on me. I quickly make myself something to eat but I can't eat much because I am far too excited. At exactly 8 o'clock the doorbell rings and I open it. "Wow Amina, you are on time, I am amazed." I say to her and have to giggle. "Of course I am on time! We don't go to school either!" I have to laugh and then I hug her "I am so excited!! We're flying to Korea!!!" I say to her and almost crush her with my hug. "If you keep hugging me so tightly then you'll have to fly to Korea alone." I let her go. "Oh sorry, I'm just sooo excited." She looks at me and starts laughing. "I'm excited too but we have to go now otherwise we'll be late." I take my luggage and just call out "Bye" to my parents and we're out of the house and on our way to the airport where we'll meet up with the class. "Tell me, have you actually given up looking for your birth parents?" Amina asks me in a worried voice. I look at her and sigh "I just don't know what else I should do to find them, I've tried everything but it didn't work." She looks at me and tries to cheer me up "I'm sure you'll find them at some point, don't give up." "I don't know... I don't have much hope anymore but I don't want to talk about it now, it just spoils the mood." "You're right, I'm sorry." "It's fine, you just want to help me." I smile at her and we walk on to the airport. It's not far because I live near the airport. After 10 minutes we arrive at the airport and see our class from afar. We walk to them and our teacher welcomes us. "There you are, just in time. Do you have your flight passes with you?" We both nod and hand them to him. We sit down on one of the chairs. The flight leaves in an hour. "Maybe we'll find our true love in Korea!" Amina suddenly says and I look at her and have to laugh. "Our true love? I think you've watched too many K-dramas, can that be? As if we would find our true love within 2 weeks" "Who knows? You're always so negative! Maybe your dream prince is already waiting for you" She winks at me and I have to laugh even more. "You really do dream too much Amina, we're in the real world here and not in a love film" "Yeah, okay, okay, it's fine" We sit for a while until our teacher comes back to us "Come on, our plane is about to take off" The whole class follows the teacher and we walk to the plane. We get on the plane and of course I sit next to Amina. "Now we're off, in a few hours we'll be in Korea!" Amina says with a big grin on her face. "Yeah, I can hardly wait!"
The flight goes well and I sleep most of the time because I hardly slept the night before because I was so excited. I feel someone shaking me and I wake up in shock and look at Amina in confusion. "We're here!!! We're in Korea!" I need a few seconds to collect myself and then my eyes widen. "Wait, are we here??? Already??" Amina laughs and nods "You slept almost the whole flight." I have to laugh too and then we hear an announcement on the plane that we can get off now. We all get off and see a huge airport in front of us. I look around and am excited. "Great, we're going to the hotel first, then you can unpack your things and then you can go and explore Korea in groups. But don't be back too late." The teacher says. Amina immediately takes my hand and pulls me behind the teacher.
After 30 minutes we arrive at the hotel and everyone goes to their rooms. Of course I have a room with Amina. We were lucky that there were only two of us in a room, as a couple of people had to share a room with three. When we get to the room, I immediately throw myself on the bed. Amina starts unpacking her things. "Don't you want to unpack your things too?" she asks me as she continues unpacking. "Oh, I'll do that later or tomorrow." "That was obvious, I know you like that." Amina says and giggles. "By the way, I already know exactly what we're going to do today," she says with a grin that I know all too well. I sit down on the edge of the bed and look at her. "Oh yeah? And what?" "We're going to a club. I've done a lot of research and now I know the best clubs in Soul!" I look at her and sigh. "A club? You want to go to a club on the first day we're here?" "Sure! We're going to have fun today! I won't take no for an answer, so don't even try!" She looks at me with her puppy eyes. She knows I can't say no when she looks at me like that. "Okay, let's go to a club." She immediately jumps up and down. "We're going to have the time of our lives!! And you know what the best part is? The club is full of Koreans! Maybe you'll meet your dream prince after all." She grins at me and I have to laugh. "Are you starting that again? That's not going to happen anyway, Amina." "Let's wait and see." She says with full determination. "Get ready and put on something nice, okay?" I get up and go to my suitcase to pick out an outfit. "We're going to shine tonight!" She says and picks out an outfit for herself.
