Rivals (OC X Levi Ackerman)

Chapter 3

After a few hours of being sat against a fallen tree trunk, I notice Alexia's eyes begin to open.

I get to my feet instantly, and all the scouts follow, pointing their guns at me.

"Woah! I just want to see my squadmate."

Levi folds his arms.
"No chance. She's in good hands."

"Levi. I'm asking you. Please. She'll be scared." I say, with full eye contact.
He groans, and unlocks my handcuffs.
"Go. No funny business."

I bow my head to say thank you, and kneel beside Alexia.
"Ugh. What happened?" She asks.

"I couldn't beat Levi. I'm sorry." I reply, and give her some water.

She smiles, and sighs.
"Don't be."

"I'll kill him when I have chance." I mumble quietly to her.

I give her some field rations, which she happily munches on.

Looking up at the sky, I give a big sigh. Sun's starting to set.

Once it gets dark, I sit beside her again and shut my eyes, hoping the scouts will let down their guard a little.
Alexia mumbles to me.
"They took your rifle. What's your plan?"

"I still have my smoke gun." I reply, quietly. "I'm figuring it out."

"Smart." She responds.

"Do you have anything on you? A pocket knife or anything at all?" I ask, and she shakes her head.

I suddenly hear voices, and see a squad approaching us. Thank god.

My heart sinks once their faces are lit up by the campfire. More scouts. That must be Hange. I could get them both. Hate to be selfish, but I might get a promotion if I can take out both.

They whisper among themselves. Suddenly the scouts look much less tense. There's even a few cheers.

They begin to pack up the camp.
"Scouts are no longer criminals. As we suspected, everything is a conspiracy by the interior police. We're going to get Eren now. You're coming with." Levi says, as he packs bags.

"I'm not going anywhere with you."

"I can't make you now. I'm not a criminal anymore, no reason to keep you. But if you want to go return to your corrupt regiment, that's fine."

"It wss the interior. Not the MPs."

"And what regiment are the interior?" He asks.

I roll my eyes and don't respond.
"After you beat the shit out of me, I think you're all corrupt."

"No hard feelings." He replies, though with a deadpan face. "Honestly, you put up a good fight. Was nice to have a challenge."

I know he's manipulating me and boosting my ego. But I

"Is it going to be dangerous?" I ask.

He knits his brows together.
"Take a wild guess."

"Fine. Alexia goes home. And I promise nothing about permanently joining the scouts."

"Done." He replies, and we shake hands.

I look at Alexia.
"Find Mattieu and Oli. Get the horses, and get back."

"But..."

"It's an order."

"Captain!" She yells, and goes to do as she's told.

I put some gear on, and stay towards the edge of the camp, carefully observing the dynamic.

I mount one of the scouts horses and ride alongside Levi to wherever the hell it is we're going. After some time riding, we stop at the ruins of what was probably some ordinary looking church.
