I head outside, adrenaline pumping through me as I face my new squad in the training area.
“Who wants to go first?” I call out, scanning the faces of my new squad.
Sophie steps forward, determination shining through her. “I’ll take you on!”
“Let’s see what you’ve got,” I reply, assuming a fighting stance.
Sophie throws a series of quick jabs, and I block most of them, but she catches me off guard with a swift uppercut that lands just below my chin.
“Nice shot!” I say, impressed, as I counter with a low kick that sends her sprawling.
She laughs as she gets back to her feet. “Alright, round two!”
Next up is Tobias, who approaches nervously, adjusting his glasses. “I’ll go now.”
He tries to use strategy to outmaneuver me, feinting to the left before attempting a sweep at my legs. I leap over him, landing behind him, and deliver a solid kick to his midsection. He doubles over, gasping for breath.
“Not bad for a four-eyes,” I smirk, giving him a friendly nod.
Then it’s Amara’s turn. She steps up, looking fierce. “I won’t hold back,” she says.
“Neither will I,” I reply, readying myself.
The fight is intense, with Amara using her agility to dodge my punches and deliver her own. She manages to land a few solid hits, but I can see she’s growing frustrated. I take advantage of her momentary distraction, delivering a swift jab to her midsection that sends her to the ground.
“Three down,” I say, breathing heavily but feeling exhilarated.
Finally, it’s Elias’s turn. He approaches with a serious expression, clearly ready to prove himself. “Let’s see what you can do,” he says, his eyes locked on mine.
“Bring it on,” I reply, adrenaline spiking.
The fight begins, and he throws a series of powerful punches. I dodge most of them, but he lands a punch to my side that knocks the wind out of me. I fight through the pain, determined to win.
With renewed focus, I counter his next move, sidestepping and delivering a quick uppercut. He stumbles back but quickly recovers, launching himself at me again.
“Not bad, but you’ll have to do better than that!” I taunt, feeling the energy in the air.
I throw a strong punch that sends him sprawling. Just as I think I’ve won, he catches me off guard with a punch to the side of my head.
With fierce determination, I push through the disorientation, forcing myself to get my balance. I lock eyes with Elias once more.
He looks concerned but nods, ready for the final round. I launch myself at him, focusing all my energy into one final punch, striking him hard in the jaw.
He stumbles back, crashing to the ground. “Four down,” I declare, catching my breath, but my victory feels hollow as the darkness creeps back in.
As I stand there, the world begins to swirl. The ringing in my ears intensifies, and I grasp my head, trying to steady myself.
“Freyja!” a voice calls, but it sounds distant. My vision blurs, and I feel my knees buckle as darkness threatens to close in.
Once again, I feel my body being supported, but by two people this time.
"What's her problem?" I hear Amara ask.
"She's just sick and doesn't rest enough." I hear Levi's voice reply.
