Virat paced back and forth across the living room, brainstorming a way to convince Mahira to accompany them to practice. He glanced a Yashasvi, who was sprawled on the couch scrolling through his phone, chuckling occasionally.
"Yash! You realise that you are here to help me out with my issue and not giggle like a high school girl?!" A loud shout from him brought Yashasvi out of his trance, the startled look on Yash's face confirming its effect.
"Umm Virat bhai, what do I even say? She's your sister, you know her more than me. Think of something." Yashasvi responded, pocketing his phone and getting up to stand face-to-face with Virat.
"What do you mean 'think of something' ? Maine tujhe apni help karne ko kya bulaya agar saara pressure khud hi handle karna tha?"
Virat rolled his eyes at Yashasvi, shaking his head in slight exasperation. Just then, Anushka appeared in the doorway, folding her arms and watching the two men with an amused smile.
"Virat, you do realize she won't even give him the time of day if you don't first get them to know each other? She needs to feel comfortable around him," she suggested, her voice calm but firm.
Virat frowned, looking at Anushka as if she had just suggested the impossible. "Get them close? She's already skeptical of anyone I bring around. And with Yash, well..." he trailed off, throwing an apologetic glance at Yashasvi.
Before he could finish, the main door creaked open, and Mahira walked in, her sling bag swinging by her side. She barely glanced at Virat and Yashasvi, her attention focused on Anushka. "Bhabhi, shopping jaana hai?" she asked with an eager smile, but her steps faltered when she noticed Yashasvi.
Mahira raised an eyebrow, a teasing smirk on her face. "I've been noticing for the past week... tum har roz yahan hi pade rehte ho. Planning to shift here, Yashasvi?"
Virat's eyes widened as he shot Yashasvi a look, silently warning him not to mess this up. Clearing his throat, he quickly stepped in. "Mahi, Yasha is here because he's very cool and... and he's one of my favourite juniors. Actually, scratch that—he's my favourite junior." He emphasized the last part, patting Yashasvi on the back.
Mahira's smirk widened as she poured herself a glass of water. "Say that again, bhai. I'll record it this time and send it to Shubman," she said, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
Virat scowled, folding his arms. "Alright, alright, no need to make this a whole thing. But seriously, Mahi, Yasha's here because he's good company and—well—thought it might be nice if you two got to know each other. You know, since you're around cricket all the time anyway."
Yashasvi shifted awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck. "Uh, yeah, Mahi. I mean, we could just hang out a bit... no pressure," he added quickly, feeling Virat's intense gaze on him as the older guy nudged him hard.
