"twenty one pilots" Josh read the text message aloud, sitting up from his previous position on his bed. It was currently 12:37, past midnight, and Tyler had apparently had an epiphany. They now had a band name. Josh honestly didn't care what name Tyler picked, he planned on being by his side regardless. He sent back an encouraging message before placing his phone down and drifting to sleep.

He glanced at the battle of the bands sheet on the wall, seeing Tyler somehow already signed them up before Josh even walked through the doors. Josh sent Tyler a look that read a clear 'what the fuck '. Tyler was visibly excited, a bounce in his every step. Josh chuckled, making longer strides to keep up with the very excited boy.

Little did Josh know, the bounce in his step wasn't just excitement, it was nervousness. Today was the day he planned on asking Josh to prom, and he prayed that everything worked out. He had Jenna and Debby helping him set things up since they had a free period during the day, and they were given the okay to use the music room. Tyler let himself relax a bit, knowing they wouldn't mess things up for him.

It wasn't until Debby was absent from lunch that Josh grew suspicious. All day, Tyler's friends had been giving Josh a side eye, which wasn't unusual, but today it was far more noticeable. Now, with Jenna and Debby not in the lunch room when Josh arrived, he was more than confused. Tyler beckoned him over to their table, knowing Josh would hate to sit alone during lunch.

Tyler's friends didn't even bat an eye when Josh sat down, causing him to narrow his eyes. He leaned in towards Tyler, whispering in his ear.

"What is going on? Where are Jenna and Debby? Why is no one surprised im here"

"Well first of all, we hang out all the time, why would anyone be surprised you're over here? Also I'm not sure what they're up to, they never showed up and Jenna shot me a text saying they had business to take care of"

Tyler turned his phone to Josh to prove he wasn't lying, shrugging before reaching for his water bottle. Josh couldn't help but still be confused, but he let it go, focusing on his food in front of him. He tried not to let things like this bother him, but he had a strange gut feeling that something was happening behind his back.

Josh got very worried when he walked into his next period, even though it was a free period, Debby was always there. He sighed, realizing he would be bored out of his mind by himself and took out his phone. Josh lost track of time playing different games and the bell rang, signaling his next class. He still hadn't seen Debby today, but figured it wasn't worth stressing over right now.

The anxiety was starting to eat away at him, making his head spin. Josh was barely able to pay attention this period, his brain feeding him lies.

'they just don't wanna talk to you anymore that's why they're acting weird'

His body started to shake, signaling a panic attack. Josh looked around, making sure no one was paying attention to him as the tears silently fell. His entire body was frozen, and his heart was beating so fast he couldn't keep track. He clutched his chest, the pain becoming too much. Josh tried his best to conceal his shaking and the world both felt like it stopped and was going too fast all at once.

A hand on his shoulder is what brought him back to reality, and he glanced up, his teacher taking deep breaths and signaling him to do the same. After he calmed down he apologized, going straight back into the work on his desk. He felt stupid, causing a scene in class. Josh knew he'd be laughed at for the rest of the week. People always spoke poorly about him behind his back.

The end of the day couldn't have come faster, and Josh basically ran to the music room. Stepping inside, he was unprepared for what he saw. Tyler was seated in the middle of the room, a ukulele waiting on his lap. There was a bag of Taco Bell, and roses scattered around the room. The petals were blue, matching Josh's current hair, and he smiled at the small detail.

Josh sat down cross legged across from Tyler, cocking his head in curiosity.

"I wanted to do something special for you... because you deserve it..." Tyler started, strumming his ukulele.

You know, I've always been collected, calm and chill
And you know, I never look for conflict for the thrill
But if I'm feeling someone stepping towards you
Can't describe just what I'm feeling
For you, I'd go step to a dude much bigger than me
For you, I know, I would get messed up, weigh 153
For you, I would get beat to smithereens

Tyler's voice filled the room, and Josh hung onto every word. He didn't look away once, giving Tyler his undivided attention. Once Tyler was done singing, he cleared his throat, looking away from Josh, suddenly a lot more nervous than before.

"You know...prom is coming up, and if you didn't already have a date, I would love to take you" Tyler looked up towards Josh, gauging his reaction.

Josh froze, not knowing exactly how to react. This was the last thing he expected and his entire body was kicking into survival mode. All he managed to do was nod and he was suddenly being tackled into a hug by Tyler. The two laughed, but Josh still couldn't help but wonder, was this a joke? Was the basketball team going to run into the room and laugh at him, calling him names?

Josh and Tyler continued laying there for a few minutes, hugging, and just enjoying each others presence. The feeling of Tyler against him like this made him calm down, his shoulders relaxing. The action was obvious to Tyler who then tightened his arms around Josh. Neither of them wanted to let go, but they knew they had to.

" Sorry if that was cheesy I just... you're special to me so you deserved something special. The best thing I could think of was writing you a song. I'm sorry if it was too much I-"

"Tyler, I loved it, you're amazing, thank you" Josh quickly shut him up, giving him praise.

Tyler leaned his head on Josh's shoulder, enjoying the moment for as long as possible. Josh let his head rest on top of Tyler's, the two just basking in each others presence. Today was a day Josh would never forget, because today was the day he realized he was madly in love with Tyler Joseph.
