3rd Person POVLily slowly woke up as she was tired from the game night earlier on. When she fully opened her eyes, she looked and saw that her head was positioned between someone's neck and her pillow. Embarrassed and confused, she tried to move out of the person's arms to get a better look but was only pulled in tighter. Lily moved her head backwards and saw that it was Josh and went bright red.
𝚃𝚑𝚒𝚜 𝚌𝚊𝚗𝚗𝚘𝚝 𝚋𝚎 𝚑𝚊𝚙𝚙𝚎𝚗𝚒𝚗𝚐, she thought, as she replayed the events of last night's game night. She buried her face into Josh's neck and just laid there silently, secretly enjoying the feeling of being in his arms. Lily laid there comfortably and sighed contently, savoring the feeling while it lasted.
Sadly, that wasn't very long. She felt Josh stir and closed her eyes, pretending to be asleep at least for a few seconds to try and seem like the opposite of a creepy watcher. She felt Josh move his head before feeling a smile and pulling her tighter, holding her closer to his body. She looked up at him and saw that he was smiling down at her.
That didn't last long. Josh saw her looking up at him and went bright red. He shot up from the bed and looked down at his lap, embarrassed by what happened. He looked over at Lily and saw that she was sitting with her legs crossed and pink blushed face hidden by her long blonde hair.
Josh reached out and brushed the hair away from her face and kept his hand just under her jaw, not wanting to let go. She smiled at him and he smiled back, both enjoying the quietness in the room. Eventually, Josh sighed before turning his body to face her. "Look, I'm sorry. You wanted me to stay and I guess I just fell asleep. I didn't mean to, it just happened. I'm so, so sorry."
"Josh, it's okay. I asked you to stay and you were kind enough to accept my weird drowsy request." Josh looked at her and smiled before moving closer and grabbing her hand in comfort. She blushed before accepting it and clasping her hand around his as well. Lily got up and gently pulled her hand away before walking into her kitchen and starting to make pancakes.
Josh followed suite and watched the girl with a puzzled expression as she flowed through the kitchen, making two helpings since Josh was there. "Lily, what are you doing?", Josh asked with furrowed eyebrows and a smile.
"I'm making us breakfast. What else would I be doing after we just woke up?", Lily asked, confused at his question."Oh, no, you're right. It's just...I thought you'd want me to leave", Josh said sheepishly while scratching the back of his neck. Lillian chuckled at that before going over to the slightly taller boy.
"Josh, you stayed with me. I mean it'd be wrong to not thank you in some way, wouldn't it?", Lily asked sincerely.Josh just stared at her with a blank expression before nodding slightly and then walking around her apartment, admiring the tidiness that was clearly shown. Every room had something of hers. Whether it was headphones, books, or a camera, it was clear that Lily was the owner of the home.
He saw that the living room was vibrant in light pastels. Yellows, blues, purples, greens, she had it all. It was beautiful to him, he had never seen these things back in Philly with any other girl, it was mesmerizing. He walked around and saw a small room that seemed to be filled to the brim with different genres of books scattered along the floor to ceiling bookshelves.
He saw romance, fantasy, horror, thriller, action, mystery, any genre that he could think of was on one of those shelves. He exited the room and saw another one that was slightly bigger right next to it. He entered cautiously and saw that there were cameras everywhere, photos being printed, and pictures splayed across the room in a very whimsical fashion.
He turned his head after hearing Lily call his name out for the late breakfast and he swiftly exited the room, leaving it as he found it. He walked over and saw a belong of pancakes and bacon on a plate, along with coffee heating up on the stove with tea as well. He looked over at Lily and saw that she had the same, except it was a smaller portion.
She had tea with a small cup of lemonade and was eating her food quietly, savoring the delicious meal. Josh watched her intently before quickly moving his head after seeing her looking at him with a childish smile. He went over of the stove and took the coffee pot off the stove and poured himself a cup, avoiding looking at his crush with all his bodily power.
He ate his food silently next to her as he felt his cheeks heat up every time she glanced over at him or he looked at her. He quickly finished his food before turning to face her, working up his confidence as he ate previously. Lily turned to face him and looked at him with confusion written on her face as she waited for him to speak.
"Lily, I have to get back to Philly. My mom said that she wanted me home by noon and since it's almost noon, she's probably gonna be mad if I don't start leaving now. I'm sorry I have to cut this short, but, maybe next time?", he asked sheepishly. Lily would be lying if she said her heart didn't hurt at hearing the words come out of his mouth one by one.
She strained a small smile before standing up and walking over to him. "Of course. I mean, we wouldn't want your mom to be mad, right?", Lily spoke as she chuckled weakly. Josh laughed with her but his was also weak as he knew that this was just a lie because he couldn't stand to look at her anymore, knowing that he would never possibly get a shot at being worth a girl like her.
She walked him over to the door and before he exited, he hugged her, not wanting to let go anytime soon. She was shocked at the action but quickly hugged him back, putting the side of her face in his chest. The two parted weakly, not wanting to let go. Josh exited the apartment and soon left as he knew if he stayed in New York any longer he would be pained with heartache and would run to his crush in a heartbeat.

Lily walked down to her mother's place of work and entered as she got reading for her shift. Living in New York was good to her. She was resourceful and even had regulars at the diner but she also took custom photos and sold them for extra cash.
"Hey, gummy bear", Katy said to her daughter as she hugged her daughter tightly.
"Hey, mama. How have you been?", she asked as they both parted from the hug.
"I've been good. Maya is doing okay in school and Riley is keeping her out of trouble.
"I would hope so. I mean, I know what happened when they had their first big fight that neither of them can seem to remember."Katy grimaced at the memory before putting on another smile as she quickly went back to the counter to help out some other customers. "So, what about you and that Josh kid?", Katy asked innocently. Lily blushed at the mention of his name before turning to face her mother slightly.
"Nothing's happened yet. I mean, he stayed over last night because I asked him too but then he just left abruptly and I honestly don't know what to do. I mean, do I tell him I like him? Do I not? There's also Maya since she likes him but I don't know, mama. What should I do?", Lily asked her mother with a stressed tone.
Katy looked at her daughter and smiled weakly. She knew that this day would come, especially since her daughter would always tell her about her non existent love life while she lived in New Jersey so she knew how much stress and confusion her eldest daughter was feeling and she would do her best for her.
Katy approached her eldest and put held her hands. "Gummy bear, you are the strongest girl I know. If Josh feels the same, he will let you know, but don't kill yourself over this. If you want to know now, tell him. Don't let yourself go insane over this, okay?" Lily nodded at her mother's words before going back to work and, thankfully, not thinking about Josh for the rest of her day.
