A thin line of blood appeared on Desmon's neck. If that wound had been any deeper, it would have been enough to sever his jugular.

The massive blade buried itself in the ground, narrowly avoiding Desmon's neck with great precision.

"Did you trust I wouldn't cut you, or did you just accept your fate?" Mea looked at him curiously, a wide smile spreading across her face.

"If you really wanted to take me out, you would've done it from the start. Besides, I didn't sense any bloodlust from you." Desmon remained calm, his usual demeanor unchanged.

Even though he lost his demonic abilities, he'd grown used to sensing bloodlust directed at him; a habit since living on his own. Experience is something no one can take from him.

"I see." Mea withdrew the massive blade, which merged back into her hair. "If you're just a simple human, there's no point in killing you." She sighed, slightly disappointed.

"Rumors sure spread fast, huh?" Desmon looked up at the sky, enjoying the view.

Mea's expression shifted when she heard him.

"Is it true what you told Yami? I find it hard to believe a mere demon could take us down."

Yami had spoken to Mea about the current situation, advising her not to kill Desmon, since he's now just an ordinary human.

"I already told Yami, if you struggled with me when I was in such a bad state, you stand no chance against that demon."

"It's hard to believe someone that strong could be in this city and never show themselves." Mea thought back on everything she knew about the city since arriving, but no one matching Desmon's description came to mind.

"From the brief conversation we had while fighting, I'd say it's cunning. It chose to flee before finishing the battle with me...''

-It ran when it realized it couldn't beat me, summoned demons to escape, and attacked just to avoid losing its life.

Mea nodded. "So all I have to do is find it and slit its throat, right?" She said with a playful tone.

"Couldn't have said it better myself.'' Desmon waved his hand, as if inviting her to finish the job if it was that easy.

"In that case, what's the point in keeping you alive?" Of course, Mea sensed the mockery in the words of the now-human boy.

Desmon felt Mea's killing intent, but his expression remained calm.

"A secret weapon, maybe? Only if Mikado manages to find a cure or something like that." He said with disinterest.

"I have to admit, you're pretty entertaining for someone in your situation." Mea suppressed her bloodlust, merely testing Desmon.

"You're not the first to want me dead, and you won't be the last, so I've learned to live with it." Desmon spoke confidently, his gaze fixed on the vast blue sky, where all problems seemed insignificant.

From mercenaries to other demons, he'd grown used to dealing with them. Even during sleep, demons never respected his resting hours.

With no further business with Desmon, Mea prepared to leave, but before she did, she remembered something.

"I'll be waiting for my rematch." She and Yami had defeated him in that fight, but to them, it felt like their loss.

"Don't worry, I'll gladly give it to you." He replied confidently.

With that, Mea vanished from Desmon's sight in an instant.

-It's amazing how I could've kept up with her movements before, but now it feels like a magic trick. He thought to himself but quickly dismissed the idea.
