You walked down the garden of tombes to where your wife layed. You hadn't even been married a year before she passed.
You sat down and placed a bouquet of roses next to her grave. Tears rolled freely down your face as you sat down cross-legged in front of her grave. You hated this day. It made you feel sad and angry.
"Hi." You croakily said. All the crying you had done today, it felt like you couldn't speak. You didn't know what to say or how to feel. You didn't know how to process all the emotions you were feeling. All you could do was cry.
"I-I miss you. I miss you so much." You cried, burying your pounding head in your hands.
"I hope you like the flowers. I know their your favourites." You hiccuped and wipped away your tears. There was no point in doing so as more tears just welled up in your eyes as you watch her grave.
Somehow hoping she'd come back well and alive. Stupid cliff. Stupid yellow infinity stone. Stupid Thanos.
You felt the anger returning as you thought back to the war and everything that had happened. You should've gone with her. Maybe you could've stopped her. Maybe you could have- "I thought I'd find you here." You couldn't make out who it was, too distraught to think. The woman sat down beside you, her blonde locks blowing in the wind. Yelena. It was Yelena.
Yelena had tracked you down after she found out about Natasha's death. Yelena wasn't there for the wedding, nor did she hardly know you, but she could see that you loved her sister with all your heart. It wasn't easy to track you down, as you went MIA for ages, not wanting to have to deal with other people's pity for you.
You stared at the words engraved in the stone. "Loving wife, sister, daughter, and mother." That's right. Mother. You were pregnant at the time of the war. You and Natasha had been trying for IVF for months and you finally got it. Unfortunately, after Natasha had passed, Thanos had also taken your child. It was a miscarriage. Natasha didn't know about the miscarriage as it had happened after she passed. But she knows. She's been watching.
"Come on, let's go home. I'll make Mac and Cheese. With hot sauce." Yelena tried to cheer you up a little. She herself was struggling today too, but she hated seeing her best friend so upset and there was nothing she could do to fix it. "I'm not hungry." You mumbled. You hadn't been eating much the last few days. Yelena's been trying her best to get you to eat, but it's been hard on the both of you.
Yelena gives you a sad, small smile. "You don't have to eat it all but just take a few bites, please. For Natasha." You sighed and just nodded, letting her help you stand up and walk to the car.
It's been a long, hard year without your wife by your side. You somehow are still alive. With the help of Yelena and your family, you'll be okay. Deep down, you knew Natasha would be watching and protecting you from high up. That was the last bit of comfort you could get. Knowing that Natasha is still with you, in your heart.
