Chapter 2: To Die Under The Spotlight, Just To Hear All the Applause.
--------------------------------------------------------------

OOOH! First trial finally done. Can't believe those kids could actually solve it without my help.

I was expecting...more of a panicked debate from all of them to be honest, but I'm glad the trial didn't become a screaming fest like I expected.

That host boy despite everything else about him, seems to be able to adapt to the situation greatly. Same as that jeweler girl..

....I don't even wanna think about what she did.

...speaking of which, that trial sure did take 3 days to happen...

If I really want maximum value, I should probably keep them alive....better analysis that way.

Still, I do wonder how these kids are gonna cope knowing 2 of their friends are dead. Probably won't be good for their mental health, but....hm...

I just remembered a saying...

"What if the meaning of life is found through death?"

Death. The one constant in the universe. The thing every being in this universe goes through without fail. The whole basis for this entire operation.

Death...as a meaning of life... it's quite the nihilistic statement, which implies that the meaning of life lies in the destination instead of journey.

Life's meaning through the lens of seeing everyone as a collection of bones being held up by muscle, and sinew where we all are born, live for a few insignificant years, and interact upon a potential of 8 billion other people...

Now that's...something interesting I can research, and I've just got the perfect idea for it...

Nihilism, huh? Never expected I'd be the type to be interested in this.

Though, when I think about it...I guess death isn't the only constant. Hope's peak has taught me that the only thing in this universe that will never disappear is death, and having people only see you for your talent's labels.

Sigh...I really am getting more mad with each passing day. If only I had a different talent....

.....

That's it!

I know what to do!

But first...let's let these kids rest for at least a week.

After all, high school students are at the age range where they need it the most. Otherwise, they'll just become mindless drones who spend most of their time sleeping instead of focusing on improving the killing game's experience.

Like a certain someone I know...

..........

.......N-no!

Please! I didn't mean It, okay!?

Just please...stop....

There I was, standing in a dark void, the ground split into white, and black. While I was standing on the white corner, I could see Hirotaka on the other black colored corner just staring blankly at me.
