....What did it just say?
"Yup! That's how it goes around here." The spider gleefully said to all of us. "Now to explain about the class tri-"
"Woah woah, hold your horses there. What do you mean the killer dies?" Senichi asked, stepping forward.
"....I was getting to that." The Spider pouted in annoyance before clearing its throat.
"Each of you will stand on a podium here, and start debating on which among you is the blackened. At the end of the trial which is determined by when I say it ends, or when you're all ready, we shall enter voting time, where you will all vote on who you think the killer is. Doing that means the rest of you survive, and the Killer is executed for their crimes." The spider explained to us.
"And...what happens if we don't vote correctly?" Erika asked as the Spider laughed in response.
"Then the killer is able to escape from Hope's Peaks academy, and return back to society!"
"Hey that doesn't sound bad..." Hirotaka nervously said. "Right?"
"Butttt, in exchange, everyone else will die! UKUKUKUKUKU!!!" The spider laughed maniacally at us.
"...Of course there'd be a catch." Hirotaka said, disappointed.
"Now that I've explained it all, why don't you lot go to your podiums?" Monokumo said, urging us.
Following what we were told to do, everyone walked to their own podiums which they seemed to pick randomly.
The podiums were colored in gold which constrasted the purple of the room. At our feet we could see a cobweb logo on where we were stepping.
Somehow, I managed to get Hikaru next to me by the left, while my right side was empty.
"Hey... why's there an empty spot here?" I asked the Spider who was now sitting on a throne, and holding a gavel.
"Oh? Oopsies! I must've forgotten to remove one of the 16 podiums here! Silly ol' me." The Spider said before smacking the gavel on its hand.
Suddenly...something fell from the ceiling.
Next to the empty podium next to me, I could see a portrait on a stand appear. On it there was...
An image of Usagi...
"Well, you can't have a dead person without a death portrait, can ya?" Monokumo said, sounding like it was holding back laughter from this.
"I-is this some sick joke? Why would you do that? And why that expression on her portrait!?" Hikaru yelled out at the spider.
"What can I say..emotions are quite...interesting. I simply put that there as a way to mark what kind of person they were when they were still alive." The Spider explained.
