Turns out, Hunter and I live in the same neighborhood. We didn't find out till 3 days after he asked me out. 3 DAYS
So on one day, my friend Marisa and I were just hanging out by the ditch, thinking and talking about the stuff happening in our lives. Marissa and I knew each other for a long time. In fact, she was my first kiss.It was during a time when I was questioning my sexuality.(I'm bisexual by the way) She always made me smile and feel special things in my heart that I could only get from being near her.
"So what's new in the Laniverse?" She asked
"Actually, Hunter asked me out,"I said."that's not gonna change anything between us right?"
"Lani, of course not. Our days are over, I'm happy that you're moving on." Then she hugged me.
Ah, Marissa. She's the best.
And from behind us, I heard a familiar voice"Aw that's sweet"
I whipped me head around "What the-" I stopped when I saw Hunter. "Hey! Where did u come from?"
"And how long have you been standing there?"
"Long enough," he replied. Then he sat down between us. "So how yall doing?"
"We're good,"Marissa said. Then she looked behind him at me. "So this is him?"
"Yup, this is him" I said
Hunter interrupted us. "Yes ladies talk about me while I'm sitting right between you. I love it."
Marissa and I laughed. "You're funny dude, I'm Marrissa by the way."
"I'm Hunter." He said. "So y'all two went out?"
Good job Hunter, this is totally not gonna make things awkward for EVERYONE.
"Yeah, we went out." Marissa said. "And if you hurt her, I'll squeeze your balls and pop them with a fork."
He just stared at her, as if he actually believed that she would do that. "Um...ok then.."
"Well, it's almost nine. Ima head home. Nice meeting you Hunter. See ya later Lani." Then she hugged me and kissed my cheek.
After she was gone, Hunter had just about a BILLION questions for me.
"Why didn't you tell me that you're bi? I would've understood."
And when he asked me that, I felt that I could truly trust him with my secret.
"I'm sorry, I don't really tell people about my sexuality when I first meet them."
"We didn't just meet." He pointed out.
"Yeah, I should've told you..."I said. "Um I think I'm gonna go. We've got school tomorrow."
"Ok, I'll see you tomorrow then." He said
And as I was about to let go of his hand, he grasped my hand, spun me into a hug and kisses my nose.
"I love you Lani."
"I love you too,"
And this time, he let me leave.
