Xijin's Umbrella

Chi Buyu sang, not quite remembering the lyrics, and kept repeating the same few lines of the song. Not only that, she always sang with her own twist—starting the first line in one tone, showing respect for the original artist.

When she sang the next line, she would unilaterally change it, switching bass notes to treble, treble notes to bass, mixing them up however she liked, creating her own version.

She always had to use her powerful and airy voice to transform a perfectly good song into something uniquely hers.

No one could keep up.

"Do you know I don't often bring an umbrella~"

Didn't she bring an umbrella?

Cui Xijin lazily lifted her head, glancing at the long-handled umbrella Chi Buyu had placed beside her hospital bed—an uncommon shade of Xijin blue. Chi Buyu's belongings were always in bright, eye-catching colors, easily visible at a glance.

"Bringing an umbrella~" That wasn't Chi Buyu's voice.

Someone actually managed to keep up?

Cui Xijin turned her head curiously to find one of the two girls from the next bed.

It was the girl who had been retching earlier, now seemingly taking a break and weakly chiming in.

"Oh, oh~" Chi Buyu sounded like she had found a kindred spirit.

This woman was so remarkable that even in the emergency room, she could effortlessly find her confidante.

"Clouds, clouds, hurry and go away~"

Chi Buyu's eyes lit up as she continued singing, glancing over at the patient who was joining in. Meanwhile, she kept wiping the rainwater off Cui Xijin's face.

She was somehow managing to do three things at once—how impressive.

Just four hours ago, this woman had been asking her if babies breathe fire, and three hours ago, before getting on the ambulance, she had been holding a shaky umbrella, biting her red lips, and frantically asking for the emergency number, which she couldn't remember...

"Feels like you're challenging my optimism~"

The next line was taken up by the girl who had just distributed mangoes in the ward. Perhaps not as bold as the retching girl, she laughed shyly as she joined in.

How could they all sing?

Cui Xijin furrowed her brow, instinctively glancing over at the elderly man and child eating eight-treasure porridge. The child had probably finished his porridge and was unable to join the song, just stupidly clapping with his IV in hand.

The old man frowned, holding the child's hand down, but couldn't help humming along, then glanced over, "Stop clapping and keep singing~"

Cui Xijin averted her gaze uncomfortably.

But she saw Chi Buyu resting her chin on her hand, grinning at her.

What did this mean?

Cui Xijin rationally avoided Chi Buyu's gaze. She absolutely wouldn't join this group.

How could she possibly engage in such silly antics?

"Of optimism~"

Seeing her silent, Chi Buyu wasn't annoyed; she cheerfully continued singing.

Cui Xijin sighed in relief, then saw Chi Buyu toss away the wet tissue and seriously roll up another piece of paper towel.

She shrank her fingers.
