The morning sun peeked through the curtains, casting a golden glow across the bedroom. A'ja stirred, feeling the warmth of Y/n's embrace as she nestled closer. The news of her pregnancy still lingered in her mind, bringing with it a mix of excitement and anxiety. She was looking forward to seeing Y/n's reaction again when they officially announced it, but for now, they had to focus on Alijah's upcoming birthday party.

As A'ja lay there, she could hear the faint patter of tiny feet. She opened her eyes just in time to see Kai tiptoeing into the room, holding a small teddy bear. "Mommy, can we have breakfast now?" she whispered, trying not to wake up Y/n.

A'ja gently slid out of bed and scooped Kai up. "Of course, mamas. How about we make some pancakes, huh? With chocolate chips?"

Kai's face lit up, and she nodded enthusiastically. "And sprinkles?"

"Of course! Can't forget the sprinkles," A'ja chuckled, carrying Kai downstairs.

In the kitchen, A'ja set Kai up on a stool beside the counter, letting her help mix the batter. As they cooked, the aroma of pancakes wafted through the house, stirring Y/n and eventually Alijah out of bed. Soon, Y/n came downstairs, holding Alijah, who was rubbing her eyes and yawning.

"Good morning, sleepyheads," A'ja greeted, plating a stack of pancakes.

"Morning," Y/n replied, setting Alijah down. She kissed A'ja's cheek before moving to get the girls some milk.

"Ali, guess what?" Kai said, already bursting to share their breakfast surprise. "We made pancakes with sprinkles!"

Alijah's eyes widened with excitement, and she clapped her little hands together. "I want sprinkles, too!"

The four of them gathered around the kitchen island, the girls happily munching away at their breakfast while A'ja and Y/n shared knowing glances over the table. The day had started off perfectly, but A'ja couldn't help the slight flutter of nervousness she felt as she thought about revealing the pregnancy to everyone. She still had to confirm it with the doctor later that day and discuss the next steps.

After breakfast, the family busied themselves with party preparations. Asani was scheduled to arrive soon with the cake, and A'ja wanted everything to be perfect. She pulled out decorations from Party City—colorful candy-themed banners, oversized lollipop cutouts, and even a giant inflatable ice cream cone.

"Can you believe Ali is almost two?" Y/n said as she untangled a string of lights to hang up.

"No, I can't," A'ja replied, smoothing out the tablecloth. "She's growing up too fast. Next thing we know, she'll be starting school."

Y/n laughed softly. "And then you'll be the mom who cries on the first day, I just know it."

"Hey, don't jinx me!" A'ja teased, tossing a rolled-up streamer in Y/n's direction. They shared a light-hearted moment before continuing to set up, occasionally being interrupted by Alijah running around in excitement.

As the day went on, more family and friends arrived to help with preparations and catch up. Asani finally showed up, balancing a pastel pink cake decorated with candy and a "Two Sweet" topper in one hand while juggling presents in the other.

"This cake is adorable, Sani. You did such a good job," A'ja praised, taking the cake from her sister carefully and setting it on the dessert table.

"Only the best for my niece," Asani replied, giving Alijah a big hug.

Just as they were finishing the last touches, Kai tugged on A'ja's shirt. "Mommy, is the unicorn coming?"

"Shhh, Kai, remember, it's a surprise for Ali," A'ja said with a smile, patting Kai's head.

A few hours later, the backyard was buzzing with activity. The scent of barbecue wafted from the grill, music played in the background, and the girls ran around in their cute party outfits. A'ja watched Alijah's eyes widen when the unicorn arrived, a beautiful white pony adorned with a colorful horn and sparkly ribbons. The look on her daughter's face made every ounce of stress worth it.

"She's having the time of her life," Y/n said, coming up beside A'ja and wrapping an arm around her waist. "You're really making today special, A."

"I'd do anything for them," A'ja replied, squeezing Y/n's hand.

After a while, it was time to sing "Happy Birthday." Alijah stood on a small chair, her face glowing as everyone gathered around her. The moment felt surreal to A'ja; it was one of those perfect memories she wanted to hold onto forever.

As they cut the cake and everyone enjoyed dessert, Y/n whispered to A'ja, "Do you want to tell them now?"

A'ja hesitated for a moment, then nodded. It was the right time. She took a deep breath and clinked her glass to get everyone's attention. "Hey, y'all. Thank you so much for coming to celebrate our little Alijah's second birthday. We appreciate every single one of you for being here."

The small crowd cheered, and A'ja continued, "We actually have one more surprise today." She felt Y/n gently squeeze her hand, offering silent support.

A'ja placed a hand on her stomach and smiled, her eyes welling up with emotion. "We're expecting another little Valentine. I'm pregnant."

There was a moment of stunned silence, then the backyard erupted in cheers and applause. Asani and other family members rushed to hug A'ja and Y/n, showering them with congratulations.

"Oh my God, A'ja, I knew it!" Asani squealed, giving her sister a tight hug. "I'm so happy for you!"

Amid all the excitement, A'ja glanced down to see Kai hugging her leg. "Mommy, does that mean I get a baby brother like Ali said?"

A'ja knelt down to her daughter's level and ruffled her hair. "We don't know yet, mamas. But I promise you'll be the first to know."

As the party continued, A'ja couldn't shake the mix of joy and apprehension swirling inside her. While sharing the news had been a happy moment, she still worried about what this pregnancy would bring. Carrying two pregnancies so close together had taken a toll on her body the first time, and she knew she'd need to stay on top of her health.

Later, as the evening wound down and guests began to leave, A'ja and Y/n found themselves alone in the backyard. The unicorn had been returned, the cake was nearly gone, and the girls were upstairs winding down from the excitement.

Y/n wrapped her arms around A'ja from behind, resting her chin on her shoulder. "You did good today, baby. Everyone had an amazing time."

"I'm glad," A'ja replied, leaning into her touch. "But now that the day is over, I can't help but think about everything that comes next. I'm happy, but..." Her voice trailed off.

"I know it's a lot," Y/n murmured, turning A'ja around to face her. "But we'll take it one step at a time, just like we always do. You're not alone in this."

A'ja took a deep breath and nodded. "I just want to make sure I'm being the best mom I can be."

"And you are," Y/n reassured her, pressing a gentle kiss to her lips. "Don't doubt that for a second. You're already the best."

A'ja smiled, wrapping her arms around Y/n's neck. "We make a good team, don't we?"

"The best team," Y/n agreed, pulling A'ja closer.

The night ended with the two of them sitting on the porch, watching the stars slowly appear in the Nevada sky. A'ja's heart felt full, even with all the uncertainty. She knew they'd get through whatever came their way, just as they always had. And now, with another little one on the way, there was even more love to go around.

As she rested her hand on her stomach, A'ja silently promised the new life growing inside her that she would cherish every moment, just as she had with Kai and Alijah. She was ready—ready for the challenges, the sleepless nights, and the beautiful chaos that came with being a mother once again.
