***Isaac POV***
I wake up to the sounds of a monitor. Where am I? Then I remember I am at the hospital, because this idiot got into a fist fight.
Why was I so stupid? I should have known better I mean she's been in more fights than I can count. I have never even thrown a punch. I was always the peacekeeper. I made compromises, and the conflict was settled. Fighting was Gus's thing. I wonder if he is going to come and see me?
The door opens and Gus comes walking in. "Speak of the devil!" I exclaim.
"Well who could you be speaking to?" He looks around the room for someone.
"No one just myself."
"She must of hit you really hard."
"Duh! She freaking knocked me freaking unconscious. She gave me a concussion, a broken nose, and two black eyes! I can barely see!"
"You can't see to begin with."
"Sure make fun of the small kid with glasses."
"Yeah the small kid who got his butt beat by a girl!" He starts laughing at me.
"Gee thanks!"
"You should have known better! It was freaking Olivia!"
"Yeah, I know Olivia who gets in fights, and causes trouble."
"Anyway someone else is here to see you."
"Who?" I am confused. Monica texted me and said she couldn't come, because she had work. My parents have already been here and left. I don't really have friends except for Gus.
"You can come in now;" he yells. "Then he lowers her voice you better thank her and me."
This girl walks into the room. I recognize her from when Gus was gonna talk to her in the hall. She stands there and she looks very uncomfortable. I decide to break the awkward silence and say, "Gus here says I should thank you."
She blushes and turns a deep red. "No problem." She has a very soothing and polite voice.
"Would you mind telling me why I should thank her?" I look at her and say," Don't get me wrong, I'm not tying to be rude. I just don't really know you and I was just wondering why you decided to visit some random kid who got in a fight. Especially since you are new to the school and I have never seen you before. But it has been a pleasure speaking to you."
She starts laughing and I don't understand why. "What's so funny?"
"'It has been a pleasure speaking to you.' I have said two words. Are you always this polite?"
Gus butts in, "No he isn't polite. You should hear what he yells when we play videogames. Anyway she is here because I told her to follow me."
"Okay...why?"
"Because as you were getting pummeled into the ground. Miss Hazel Grace here was brave enough to step up and pull her off of you. You didn't know, because you my friend were extremely unconscious."
"You just love to remind me of that don't you."
"Yep. If I ever have to write you an eulogy. The final sentence would be I will always remember my awesome best friend got beat up by a girl his first day of senior year." Gus is cracking up, and so am I. Hazel is even smiling.
"So I now understand why I am in your debt."
"Please your not in my debt. I don't even know you." She replies. She seems very friendly.
"Exactly my point you helped a complete stranger. So I have a question for you."
"And what would that be?" She crosses her arms and smiles, but has a look of utter confusion.
"Well since you are new to the school. It would an honor if you became my friend."
"Of course, Isaac."
"Wait, you know my name?" I say with a cheeky smile.
She starts laughing so hard, he starts to turn red and has tears streaming down her face.
"What's so funny?" I ask.
"Of course I know your name. News spread through the school like wildfire. Everyone is talking about how the new girl helped Isaac. And how Isaac is in the hospital. I know your name, but no one knows mine, because I'm known as 'the new girl.' I'm not sure why I'm laughing so hard, but I find it extremely amusing," she replies.
"Well that makes sense."
"Yep," she replies popping the 'p' like a ten year old.
"Oh no," I groan.
"What?" She asks with confusion. "Are you okay? Do I need to get a nurse?" She turns for the door.
"No, I'm fine. But your one of those people."
"What do you mean?" She asks confused and slightly hurt.
"You like to pop your letter 'p' when you talk," I groan. She just laughs and smiles.
"Yep." She pops that 'p' again.
"Uggg," I groan.
"This my friends is the start of a beautiful friendship." Gus states.
"I couldn't agree more."
