As Amelia hugged Alexander tightly, the world around them faded away. The warmth of his embrace enveloped her, and she felt an overwhelming rush of emotions. After years of letters and late-night calls, finally being together in person was almost surreal. She pulled back slightly to look into his eyes, her heart racing.

“I can’t believe you’re really here,” Amelia said, her voice trembling with excitement. “It feels like a dream.”

Alexander chuckled, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. “It’s all real, I promise. I’ve missed you more than you can imagine.” His gaze softened, filled with warmth and affection.

“Me too,” she admitted, her smile radiant. “I can’t believe how long we’ve waited for this moment.”

After a moment, Alexander glanced at Blake, who stood nearby, trying to give them some privacy while wearing a knowing grin. “I was thinking we could celebrate this reunion with lunch. What do you say?”

Amelia’s eyes lit up at the suggestion. “That sounds perfect! I’ve been dreaming about sharing a meal with you.”

Blake cleared his throat, pretending to be busy with his paperwork but clearly eavesdropping. “Just don’t keep me waiting too long. I still have work to do!”

“Don’t worry, we won’t be gone long,” Alexander assured him, playfully rolling his eyes.

Amelia turned back to Alexander, her excitement bubbling over. “Where do you want to go?”

“How about that little café down the street? The one you mentioned in your letters?” Alexander suggested, recalling her fond memories of their favorite spot.

Amelia nodded enthusiastically. “I love that place! They have the best sandwiches and pastries. Let’s go!”

As they walked out of the clinic, Amelia felt a flutter of happiness in her chest. Being with Alexander in the bustling streets of their town was everything she had hoped for. The sun was shining, and the air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers, making the moment even more perfect.

Once they arrived at the café, they found a cozy table outside where they could enjoy the warm weather. As they sat down, Amelia couldn’t help but steal glances at Alexander, marveling at how handsome he looked in his military uniform.

“I can’t believe you’re really back,” she said, leaning forward, eager to soak in every detail. “Tell me everything! What was it like?”

Alexander smiled, a mix of nostalgia and seriousness crossing his face. “It was tough, but I had my reasons for staying focused. You were always in my thoughts. Every letter you sent made it worth it.”

Amelia felt her heart swell at his words. “I was counting down the days until you came home. I kept telling myself it would all be worth it when I finally saw you again.”

As they chatted over their lunch, sharing stories and laughter, it felt like no time had passed at all. They reminisced about their shared memories, the silly moments they had captured in their letters, and their hopes for the future.

“I missed our late-night talks,” Amelia confessed, taking a bite of her sandwich. “No one else understands me like you do.”

“Same here,” Alexander replied, his gaze steady on her. “I’ve missed hearing your voice and just being able to talk about anything and everything.”

Their lunch continued in a comfortable rhythm, with laughter and glances that spoke volumes. As they finished their meal, Amelia felt a sense of peace wash over her. She had waited so long for this moment, and now that it was finally happening, it was everything she had dreamed of and more.
