"How's your ex husband?" Alexander asked comfortingly, but you could hear the seriousness in the question.
Amelia sighed she answered. "Well- Michael is annoying, persistent and a menace of the past." She answers truthfully.
"He belongs in the past." She whispers as she played with his hands.
"Am just trying to focus on the future." She finishes, a feeling of genuinity flows through her.
Alexander listened intently as Amelia spoke, his fingers gently intertwining with hers as they sat together on the carpeted floor. Her words carried a weight that he could feel, and he appreciated her honesty.
“Annoying and persistent sounds about right,” he replied, a hint of amusement in his voice. “But it’s good to hear you’re focusing on the future. That’s what matters.”
Amelia smiled, feeling a warmth spread through her at his support. “Yeah, I’ve learned to let go of what I can’t control. It’s been liberating.” She paused, looking up at him, her green eyes sparkling. “And I’m really excited about what’s to come, especially with you in the picture.”
“Me too,” Alexander said, his voice softening as he looked deeply into her eyes. “I want to make sure you feel happy and safe. You deserve that, especially after everything.”
Amelia appreciated his words, feeling a sense of comfort wash over her. “Thank you, Alexander. It means a lot to me. I just want to focus on being happy and building a future that makes me feel alive.”
“Then that’s what we’ll do,” he declared, determination in his tone. “We’ll create new memories and experiences together, ones that will overshadow the past.”
She nodded, feeling a mix of hope and excitement bubbling within her. “I’d like that a lot. I want us to explore, laugh, and just be ourselves without any distractions.”
“Absolutely,” he agreed, squeezing her hand gently. “How about we start planning a little adventure? A weekend getaway or something fun?”
“Sounds perfect!” Amelia said, her enthusiasm shining through. “I know some great spots we could visit. A little cabin in the mountains, maybe?”
“Count me in,” Alexander said, grinning. “I’ll take care of the arrangements. I just want to make sure we have a great time.”
As they continued to discuss their ideas, Alexander couldn't shake the feeling of how right this moment felt. He was grateful to be back home and to finally be able to connect with Amelia on this deeper level. He wanted to help her build the future she deserved, free from the burdens of her past.
“Whatever happens, I want you to know I’m here for you,” he added, his tone turning serious for a moment. “You can count on me, Amelia.”
Her heart swelled at his promise. “And I appreciate that more than you know. It feels good to have someone who genuinely cares.”
With their fingers still entwined, they continued their conversation, laughter and genuine connection filling the space as they began to weave their lives together, one moment at a time.
"We can make this work." Alexander whispers.
"My career can be hectic, but I genuinely think we can make it work. Even though we both have an annoyingly strict schedule. I am willing to make it work." He whispers.Amelia’s heart fluttered as she listened to Alexander’s soft words. The sincerity in his voice made her feel secure, and the warmth of his hand holding hers reassured her. She gazed up at him, seeing the determination in his eyes, and it touched her deeply.
