"I will love you no matter what faction you choose."

"Leah Matthews," Marcus called, and my little sister stood up, walking small but quick steps up the stairs.

She took the knife, cutting her hand so some blood would flow out, and...

She looked like she was debating herself on which faction she would choose, but right as I thought she would choose to stay in Erudite, she...

Went over to the Abnegation bowl, dropping the few drops of blood onto the gray stones.

Many people in the room gasped, including myself and when I turned to my right see our mom's expression, it was far from happy.

Previously, Caleb Prior had transferred to Erudite. It was this type of reaction, but way more clapping. That would be part of the Abengation rules of showing physical affection I believe, but I'm not quite sure, since my studies were usually on serums.

"Abnegation," Marcus called out, the corners of his lips turning up slyfully.

That seemed suspicious to me.

I don't know why, but when my little sister transferred, it felt like a betrayal that went way further than just because of her choice.

"Aleiya Matthews," Marcus called out, as I stood up, steadying myself by holding onto the arm of the chair.

I walked up onto the 'stage', and was given a knife to do the usual 'cutting your palm so that blood drips into your chosen faction' thing.

It was my turn.

In the corner of my eye, I saw my mom smiling at me.

I knew she would accept whatever decision I was going to make.

There were 5 bowls in front of me. Hot, burning coals for Dauntless, grey stones for Abnegation, soil for Amity, water for Erudite and glass for Candor.

Steadily walking towards the hot coals for Dauntless, I squeezed some of my blood onto the hot coals.

As multiple claps and yells were sent my way, I knew I had made a correct decision.

I happily joined my new faction, looking at my mom one more time, and seeing that she was smiling.

It meant so much to me to be me.

I'm finally here, and I made my choice.

Being Dauntless means so much to me.

As the Choosing Ceremony ended, the Dauntless members leaped from their chairs, raced down the stairs and started running.

I leaped after them, holding onto my glasses, which were no longer necessary, but still, I would like to keep them.

I smiled as I saw everybody racing down till the first floor, and running towards the train coming toward us.

I had learned much about the Dauntless.

They went everywhere by train and that meant jumping on or off the trains to do so.
