Pain.

Huge pain.

Daisy didn't know how far she fell, but based on how she felt, it must've been bad.

For a long time, she tried to relax herself before she could move, and once she thought she was good enough, she did.

And immediately collapsed.

"Okay," she whispered with gritted teeth, "let's try that again."

Slowly, she stood on her four legs again, and after a few deep breaths, took a step forward.

It was hard to balance it, but she eventually managed to. With the opposite paw, she did the same, then her back ones.

Now she was walking, sore and shaking, but walking.

It was very dark, but she ignored all her brain's alerts and kept trying to look for her friends.

"Snowball?" She said in no more than a whisper.

"Please...if you can hear me, just answer me."

She desperately listened for his voice, anyone's voice.

She gulped and got herself in a bundle of fright.

"Where are you?"

"She must be here w-we just got to keep looking, alright?" Snowball said, looking behind a box he had searched three times before.

"Captain...we've searched the whole floor for your friend and for Daisy. She most likely got taken too."

Snowball shook his head. "No, not her. She's tough. No one can get to Daisy."

"Well, is there a place we haven't checked yet?" Liz asked.

Snowball narrowed his eyes in thought, then gasped and nodded when he came to a solution. "Is there a place that connects to the basement and outside?"

Roald cocked an eyebrow. "You do remember about those black cats, don't you? It'll be a risk getting close to windows or doors that lead to outside."

Snowball gulped with nervousness, but managed to say the next words clearly. "Well...she's my friend. I would do more than get threatened by alley cats any day now to save her."

Roald smirked at that. "Captain Snowball, I love your spirit!"

The lizard stuck out his claws. "Challengers?"

Snowball grinned rather viciously before putting his paw in. "Forever."

Daisy couldn't remember the last time she desperately wished for the sun's light, and if she was honest with herself, that was the only thing she'd been thinking about for a while now.

But she kept walking, hoping to find anything that could be useful in the type of situation she was in.

This had never happened before...but she had never been so upset, so...sad. No one was with her. No one.

So she dropped to the ground.

They left without you...

They don't need you...

They got killed, and it's all your fault...

After what you've done earlier? You're only a traitor now to them...

They already have another hero, a true hero-

Before the young Shih-tzu could finish reading the thought, she frustratedly scratched hard on a empty bookshelf, which slowly leaned to its left, and fell. Next to it was a small table, it was knocked out by the certain bookshelf, and this rhythm continued for a while, furniture by furniture fell, and the Shih-tzu watched it all, eyes soulless.

She found herself scoffing. Best sight she's seen all day. Eyes narrowed, she headed forward. She wasn't really paying attention, so she didn't expect to suddenly see a dim light.

Smiling and tail wagging, she quickly rushed towards it, and noticed it was behind a box. She relaxed herself, then started pushing it away. It was heavy, but she could do it.

It successfully fell, but as soon as it did, dust invaded the area, making Daisy cough and close her eyes.

Once she shook it away, she managed to breathe well again and open her eyes.

In front of her laid a bulkhead.

She made a scoff that might as well had been a dry laugh.

Did someone put that box so nobody would see the exit?
Pfft.

She tackled the bulkhead until it finally opened.

After that, she was rather stunned to be greeted by the October's fresh air. She must had warmed while being inside.

Slowly, taking her precious time, she took a step forward.

No cats.

She went in that rhythm for a while, and as she did, thoughts once again surrounded her like annoying flies.

Where were her friends?

Were they looking for her?

Were they still angry at her with what happened a while ago?

Were they safe?

Snowball would know what to do in this situation.

The sound of a stick being broken by a footstep made her freeze.

They grew closer over time, and while it took a lot of effort, Daisy managed to move again and hide behind the nearest tree.

She stook out a small piece of her face from the trunk and squinted, hoping to see who it was.

She scowled when she saw the familiar face of a monitor lizard.

Without thinking, and growling, she attacked it.

"This is over-!!"

"Daisy?! What are you doing?!"

Bringing her eyes to focus, the Shih-tzu gasped as she saw herself clawing at Snowball.

Promptly, something huge tackled her, but before her attacker could sink his fangs into her, he stopped at Snowball's command.

"Wait! Don't!"

Daisy now realized what was going on. Roald Challenger got off her after a vicious growl but once he did she immediately rushed to her best friend.

"Sorry! Sorry! Sorry!" She said rather panicked. "Are you okay?"

"I am now." He murmured. Snowball shook dust from his fur and looked at his best friend before hugging her.

"I'm so glad you're okay!"

"Of course! I knew you would be looking for me! I never should've doubted you. Never."

"Ah-hem."

The rather rude sound came from Roald, who was just a few inches in front of them.

"No offense...but didn't she literally say 'This is over' to you less than ten seconds ago?"

Daisy growled at the lizard.

Snowball laughed slightly at that. "Come on. Daisy, trying to harm someone? Talk to me when the sky falls, and I still won't believe you."

The Shih-tzu smiled warmly at the rabbit after that.

Soon, there was a very uncomfortable tone in the air, and Liz decided that was where she would cheer up the mood. She raised her chin and declared rather proudly,

"I once got my head stuck in a jar of mayonnaise."

Everyone was quiet after that sentence.
