Daisy didn't know when, but they had all fallen asleep while discussing the disturbing messages prior.

She couldn't help but smile, this was the most relaxed she had been all day.

Relaxation.

How she loved the word. What would the world be doing without it? Relaxing was one of the best feelings, after all. Sometimes, it was just a blast trying to imagine the world being...gone. Away from its scariness, selfishness, and pain.

One of the best feelings indeed.

A knock from the window woke her up and stopped her heart for a second.

She instinctively glanced at Hu, and most of her senses relaxed as she watched him in a deep slumber. Something soft was covering her shoulder, and she smiled and she recognized Snowball's figure close to her, one of his ears had hanged loose on her. Quietly to not wake him up, she turned to see everyone else also taking the time to rest.

Roald..Liz...Rooster...Norman...Hu...Snowball...

So who...

She turned back to the window, and was met with a figure's snarl.

She turned back, but she bumped into something freezing.

Before she could turn, she was tackled and bitten.

Daisy instantly woke, her heart pounding wildly.

She tried to whimper, but nothing came out from her throat.

Luckily, she noticed Snowball next to her, he was sleeping. She glanced around the room, everything else was sleeping too.

She couldn't help it, her eyes were starting to get wet, but she slowly, very slowly, reached her paw to poke Snowball awake, but as she did, shook her head. He was sleeping so peacefully, she had already been comforted enough from him today, he deserved a rest.

She slowly got up and got near a widow, which was the only light the room offered, but she felt better, safer, neart it.

She forced relaxing breaths. Then leaned her head against the cold glass.

This place was terrifying. Friendship was terrifying. Betrayal was terrifying. People were terrifying. The future was terrifying.

Living was terrifying.

"Sweetie?" She glanced to her right to see Liz, and the Shih-tzu couldn't help it, she gave her a warm smile. "I heard you whimpering in your sleep, are you okay?" Noticing her hesitation, the female Monitor Lizard glanced at the room and the sleeping souls with it before turning back to the small dog.

"I know we just met a few hours ago, but I want us to be friends, okay? I mean, my last friend was a cockroach. Unfortunately, that all didn't last long."

"You ate him, didn't you?"

"Yeah..."

That made the Shih-tzu wag her tail with amusement. "Thanks."

She glanced at the window again, now with her new companion.

"You know, I didn't expect our building to suddenly...get rid of us. What's more sickening is that they'll only allow one species of pet or something to stay, and the others..."

Liz took that in. "You're all friends, right?"

Daisy cocked an eyebrow, she expected the thing to be a bit obvious. "Yeah, of course."

"Then don't worry. If you stress about something that could ruin a relationship, then that's not a relationship." At the Shih-tzu's questionable look, the lizard just smiled.

"Let me remind you, young one. Friendship is all about trust. When you cry, you already know you have them to make everything better. You don't feel anxious to share them something, because you know they'll understand every word that you're saying. When you know you're still breathing, it's because of them." She paused, "And when you're...terrified, you know they're right behind you. You know they love you."

The monitor lizard glanced back at the sleeping souls. "If a 'friendship' isn't like that, then it's not friendship." She finished.

And Daisy hugged her.

"Thank you."

"Of course, dear. Anytime, and I mean it."

The Shih-tzu looked up with grateful eyes.

The monitor lizard nuzzled her. "Now come on, let's get some rest. We're gonna need it if we're gonna all face this night. Together."

The Shih-tzu nodded. "Rest sounds amazing."
