CHAPTER 1.6
EVEN MORE FILLER

Snake could feel the smell of food in his dream, causing him to suddenly wake up, he was still feeling somewhat sleepy and groggy, but much rather hungry. He got up from the couch and went to the kitchen, noticing Gojo cooking breakfast, filling the kitchen with a warm and welcoming smell.
-”Hey, buddy!” said Gojo, feeling energetic, almost as if he had chugged down 5 litres of coffee.
-”What... are you even making?” asked Snake, looking at Gojo, then at the frying pan, above the stove.
-”Oh, just making some fried eggs, along with rice, you want some too?” replied Gojo enthusiastically, as he looked at Snake happily.
-”Nah, make sense why it smelled like burnt rice then.” replied Snake with a groggy voice.
-”Oh, [[HYPERLINK BLOCKED]]!” said Gojo, quickly turning off the heat and looking at Snake slightly sad. Snake chuckled slightly and watched him.
-”Well... I guess we only have fried eggs now...“ said Gojo, looking at the rice machine disappointed.
-”Mmm...” murmured Snake, looking out the window as he tried to properly wake up. Gojo noticed him looking out the window but goes back to cooking the eggs.
After a few minutes of undisturbed silence Gojo clears his throat.
-”You seem like you are thinking far away from here. Is there something on your mind?” asked Gojo before turning off the stove.
-”...home.” replied Snake, unhinged, Gojo placed the eggs on individual plates, placing one in front of Snake before sitting down at his own place and looking at Snake.
-”Hm... I guess I could say I kinda understand you... I was the same when I first got here. Everything was new and it took me and my students a while to adapt...“ said Gojo as he took a bite from his food, Snake looked back at him then down at his food.
-”I guess..” murmured Snake before he started eating as well. Gojo looked at him for a while, sensing the somewhat miserable state Snake was in. He decides not to push him too much and instead eat his food quietly.
The sun’s rays were spreading on the kitchen counter and furniture. It was quiet and despite being two in the kitchen it still felt somewhat lonely.
After what seemed like an eternity in that moment of silence Gojo finally decided to break the silence.
-”So, you got any plans for today?” asked Gojo, curiously. Snake looked at him.
-”Not really. I will stay here and try to find a way out of this place.” responded Snake in his usual serious tone.
-”Ugh, why do you want to leave this place so bad anyway? What did you have there that you don’t have here?” asked Gojo, slightly irritated. Snake stopped for a moment and looked at him, thinking a bit before responding.
-”Not much, but I had people I considered family.” responded Snake. Gojo looked at him and rolled his eyes.
-”Oh come on, you are given the chance to a new life and yet you still choose your old one despite not having a lot.. You are loyal to something you probably didn’t even enjoy.” said Gojo, Snake looked at him and rubbed his eyes, he sighed and looked at Gojo.
-”I still have unfinished business there. I need to return. The future depends on me.” said Snake calmly, trying not to turn this conversation into an argument.
-”Geez you and your oh so serious life. Can’t you just choose yourself over your job for once. You seem so dedicated over that place of yours, it’s annoying! ...I don’t even know why I care so much whether you leave or not anyway. Do what you want I guess!” said Gojo, looking away frustrated as he resumed eating his now cold eggs. Snake looked at him and sighed, then he looked away, he quickly finished his eggs and pushed the plate aside, pulling out of his pocket codec. Gojo noticed and scuffed, he quickly finished his breakfast and picked up the plates, he stood up and went to the sink, washing the plates along with the other dirty dishes. Snake noticed and looked at him for a while, wondering whether or not to help him. Eventually he stands up and walks up to Gojo.
-”Didn’t mean to come off as rude earlier... I just miss home and adapting to a new environment with new mechanics isn’t all so great...“ said Snake as he rolled up his sleeves and picked up some plates to rinse them up. Gojo sighed and responded.
-”It’s fine, I mean the only reason why I act this caring is because you are new and I want you to see the ins and outs of this place... “ Gojo continued washing the dishes while handing the soapy ones to Snake.
-”Mmm...“ murmured Snake as he continued rinsing the dishes. Gojo looked at him and chuckled.
-”You know... they aren’t that bad... Come on! I’m sure you will have fun...“ said Gojo, trying to encourage Snake.
-”... If it will make you shut up, then sure, I guess...“ responded Snake as he finished rinsing the last dish, he dried his hands with the towel Gojo gave him and before they could do something the doorbell rang.
-”I got this.” said Gojo before going off to the front door. He opened the door and there were none other than his three students, Yuji Itadori, Nobara Kugisaki and Megumi Fushiguro.
-”AH! I missed you three!” said Gojo before hugging them all three tightly.
-”Woah Gojo sensei we missed you too!” replied Yuji with the same excited tone but the only response you could hear coming from Nobara and Megumi were choked grunts. Gojo let go of them and looked at them with a warm smile.
-”What brings you three here?” said Gojo, with a large smile on his face.
-”...I brought you the divine dogs to take care of them like you promised... Don’t tell me you forgot about it...“ said Megumi, Gojo looked at him with the same large smile, realising that he did actually forget about the promise he made.
-”Oh... right... the divine dogs. Yeah, I can take care of them!” responded Gojo between nervous chuckles. Snake was behind him the whole time, leaning against the door. The three teens looked at Snake then back at Gojo.
-”Alright then... and I’m taking it as you also told your new friend about this...“ said Megumi as he raised his eyebrow.
-”Yeah yeah don’t worry about it... “ responded Gojo more anxiously. The three teens looked at each other, Megumi gave Gojo the leash for the two dogs then the teens left altogether.
-”Phew” said Gojo before turning around, being welcomed by Snake's serious gaze.
-”AH! Could you stop sneaking around!?” yelled Gojo, Snake grinned, then turned around and went inside.
-”Geez, does it kill you to respond to me?” asked Gojo as he followed Snake inside with the dogs. He closed the door behind himself then took off the leashes of the dogs.
-”Hope you aren’t scared or allergic to dogs..” said Gojo looking at Snake. Snake looked at the dogs then back at Gojo.
-”Don’t worry.. I’m not...“ responded Snake as he looked at the dogs, watching them sniff around the house, whilst they were busy looking around the house, Gojo went to his bedroom and soon returned with a box full of dog toys. He placed the box down in the living room, letting the two canines pick their toys. Gojo sat down on the living room carpet, next to the box, watching the dogs play, Snake sat on the sofa and watched along with him.
-”So, how does this Fortnite game actually work?” asked Snake.
-”Mmmm... well... You choose a game option, then get ready... You automatically get teleported on an island full of people and the last one to survive wins... Pretty simple.” responded Gojo, he stood up and went to the dogs, he started ruffling one of them and the other automatically got excited for the same treatment.
-” ...People huh... How sure are you of that... “ asked Snake, looking at Gojo play with the dogs.
-”100% sure!” said Gojo confidently as he played with the other dog too.
-” Hmm...” murmured Snake, Gojo looked at him and let go of the dog.
-”What? I mean the only things that aren’t people are the bots you get to hire...“ responded Gojo, the dogs looked at Snake curious. Snake looked at them back.
-”So... you never felt like your actions were being controlled by somebody else all this time?” asked Snake with his cold serious tone. Gojo felt somewhat unsure and looked back at the serious piercing eyes that were looking at him.
-”I mean... no not really... I’ve always been my own person... even though I haven’t been living in my old world with the people I knew... I’m still the person I used to be.. but what are you getting to anyway?” asked Gojo.
-”Nothing important... just making sure of something...“ responded Snake, looking away almost as if all his suspiciousness have been cleared, the dogs walked up to Snake and started sniffing them. The white one even got up on the sofa to sniff Snake’s cheek, he gently petted the dog. Gojo looked at him with curiosity.
-”You are hiding something from me and I have the odd feeling it’s something important..” said Gojo looking at Snake grumpy and curious.
-”...Maybe...“ said Snake as he kept petting the dogs, he smirked slightly, enjoying the dogs’ company.
-”Ugh you are so annoying when you do that...“ said Gojo before getting up.
-”I’ll go get ready to go out... the dogs need to play outside too... ”said Gojo, as he walked to his bedroom door. Snake watched him leave then quietly chuckled as he squeezed each of the dog’s faces softly.
After a short while, Snake heard Gojo’s bedroom door open and he quickly switched to his serious and tough face as he stood up. Gojo noticed and chuckled softly.
-”You know you don’t have to act all serious everytime I’m around...“ said Gojo as he picked up a few toys for the dogs.
-”Mmm...“ murmured Snake, Gojo opened the front door and went out, Snake and the two dogs were quick to follow. Once outside, Gojo locked the front door and walked over to his backyard. It was a big spacious zone where the dogs could roam freely without worrying about getting hurt in any way. Gojo threw a frisbee and the dogs immediately chased after it.
-”...I still can’t stop wondering... do you think there are people out there that aren’t actual people?” asked Gojo, looking at Snake skeptical. Snake crossed his arms and sighed.
-”I know there are, and also, most of these characters in Fortnite are either animals on steroids or people with extreme proportions, like The Slayer, he’s tall as hell, and really muscular.” replied Snake, looking over at the dogs as they played in the backyard. Gojo couldn’t help but giggle at the way Snake was describing the people around the place.
-”Wow… You are really judgmental for someone who played only one match.” said Gojo between chuckles.
-”Mmm... Can’t help it... Plus... What I initially meant is that not everyone you encountered has their own mind... You must’ve noticed by now there are people that kill in cold blood... These are controlled but something greater than we can imagine...“ said Snake as he picked up the frisbee from one of the dogs and threw it away so the dogs would chase it.
-”Like a God..?” asked Gojo.
-”No, ‘players’. They are humans who lack our potential and strength so they use us to fill in the emptiness they have.” responded Snake, Gojo looked at him feeling a shiver run down his spine.
-”Back in one of the games I used to be in, I had to fight them. If they won, they would have obtained me and had the ability to use me... If I won I was left alone, until they encountered me again.” continued Snake, looking at the dogs playing freely.
-”G-geez...“ is all Gojo could mutter.
-”Hopefully it doesn’t work the same here.” said Snake.
-”I can assure you it doesn’t!” responded Gojo.
-”It’s so odd to think that we live inside a... game, that is limited by outside actions... but then, I guess if it wouldn’t have been for that, we wouldn’t be here, I guess...“ said Gojo.
-”Yeah... but, just know... we are always being watched on... even now we are...“ said Snake.
-”Creepy...“ replied Gojo as he picked up the frisbee and threw it once again, he then sat down on one of the chairs he had outside, Snake looked over at him and sat down on the other chair. They both looked quietly at the dogs playing. But it didn't last long before Gojo broke the silence once more.
-”Tell me more about the place you came from...“ asked Gojo, picking up the frisbee and throwing it away.
-”Mmm... It was a free-for-all type of game... but the maximum number of people that could play were 4 with 38 other people, or ‘characters’ as they called them...“ described Snake as he kept looking at the dogs.
-”Oh... Did you have any friends or something there?” asked Gojo.
-”I didn’t have any, but I did meet a few people I could consider friends...“ replied Snake to which Gojo chuckled.
-”I’m surprised you managed that considering how stoic and nonverbal you are.” said Gojo, chuckling slightly, Snake looked at him annoyed.
-”Haha, very funny.” responded Snake looking away at the surroundings, Gojo noticed and chuckled.
-”Awh, someone got mad?” asked Gojo mockingly but Snake ignored him.
-”...Don’t...“ said Gojo, realising Snake is giving him the usual silent treatment.
-”...I hate you so much sometimes.” said Gojo, looking away annoyed, Snake grinned slightly, knowing he succeeded in his plan.
They stood in silence for a while, before it was disturbed by the sound of someone knocking at the front door.
-”I will go check...“ said Gojo before standing up and walking to the front door. After a short bit Gojo returned and picked up the dogs, Snake watched him leave with the dogs, feeling a small ping of sadness at the sight of the dogs pouting over the fact that they have to leave. After a bit he sighed and got up, as he was walking towards the front door to go inside Gojo suddenly got out of the house and chuckled almost in a mischievous way.
-”Where do you think you are going?” asked Gojo playfully.
-”Inside?” replied Snake.
-”Haha... Nah. You are coming with me buddy... we are going to play a few matches...“ said Gojo grinning mischievously to which Snake responded with a grunt.
-”Great.” Before he could continue Gojo grabbed him by his forearm and quickly teleported them into the lobby.
-”Don’t worry, if we won once, we will definitely win the second time!” exclaimed Gojo proudly, Snake sighed and got ready, Gojo immediately got ready and they were both queued in the game.
Soon enough, they get teleported on the waiting island, Snake started looking around, taking mental notes based on how the people around the island walk and act, including the people wearing condom skins, along with the football ones. Snake turned around to tell Gojo about what he saw only to see Gojo emoting the girliest emote ever. Snake looked at him in disbelief for a while, then walked up to him.
-”We are a lost case...“ said Snake with a disappointed tone to which Gojo looked at him and laughed really hard.
-”Sure thing buddy!” replied Gojo, mockingly.
-”Anyway where are we going? Same spot?” asked Gojo, pulling out his map.
-”Yeah...“ replied Snake, Gojo nodded and started walking towards the bus, Snake followed him. They got to the bus and finally got the opportunity to sit down. Snake was looking around still checking people out. He noticed a few that seemed to be controlled by ‘players’ then he looked back at Gojo.
-”We will have to make sure not to act too foolish... I already spotted some ‘players’” whispered Snake to Gojo.
-”Yeah, yeah, whatever, you worry too much anyway!” said Gojo, laying back on his seat. He looked outside, noticing the bus starting to take off. Snake sighed and checked his inventory using the item Gojo gave him the day prior. He noticed the codec and boxes were still there so he closed his inventory and looked over the map, making sure they were jumping at the right time. Whilst Snake was looking at the map Gojo was blowing air on the window and making cats by tracking over the misty spots. Snake noticed and looked at him confused.
-”You act too childish to be in such action game.” said Snake
-”La La La La La, you can’t tell me what to do!” replied Gojo chuckling.
Snake checked the map again, noticing they went past the spot they were supposed to jump at, so he grabs Gojo by his collar and jumps off the bus with him. Gojo made choking noises when Snake pulled him down.
They both start diving towards their destination and successfully land there. They each picked up a gun and got ready to face enemies. All of a sudden they both hear the sound of gunshots. Gojo immediately rushed in, laughing all chaotically as he started shooting whilst Snake was sneaking up on those that tried to run away or hide. Gojo defeats the boss and quickly fetches the medallion.
-”...your location is exposed...“ muttered Gojo, Snake looked at him remembering what happened last time.
-”Oh right! I forgot! These expose where we are on the map. That’s how players tracked us and used traps for us... “ said Snake.
-”Eh whatever, 75 shield is 75 shield!” said Gojo proudly.
-”You idiot! You do realise we are practically a walking target...“ said Snake, irritated.
-”And so what? We are practically the strongest anyway!” replied Gojo in a cocky tone to which Snake grunted and sighed.
-”You are definitely going to get us killed...“ said Snake, annoyed before picking up the Boss’s weapon and checking the map. This time, instead of going to Reckless Railways, Snake set the pin point to Hazy Hillside. Gojo noticed and looked at Snake.
-”I feel like we need to go to other places too... This way if we encounter the same people twice we won’t die...“ explained Snake.
-”Fair fair…” said Gojo, Snake nodded and started walking there.
The walk was surprisingly quiet, Snake was amazed by how great it is when Gojo’s mouth doesn’t talk or ask dumb questions, in reality the only reason why Gojo wasn’t talking all that much is because he was admiring the snowy view, he seemed lost in thought. Snake looked over his shoulder to see if Gojo was still following him and, he was in fact still following. However that wasn’t the only thing he saw, he noticed a glowing light in the back. Snake knew it was a sniper and immediately pulled Gojo into a bush. The enemy shot, aiming and hitting Snake’s leg.
-”[[HYPERLINK BLOCKED]]! GET DOWN AND HIDE!” screamed Snake as he grunted in pain. Gojo immediately laid low in the bush looking through his scope for the enemy. Snake checked his inventory and noticed he forgot to pick the medkits from the mansion.
-”[[HYPERLINK BLOCKED]] [[HYPERLINK BLOCKED]] [[HYPERLINK BLOCKED]] [[HYPERLINK BLOCKED]]!! Do you have any bandages or something!? I’m [[HYPERLINK BLOCKED]] bleeding over here!” said Snake between pained grunts. Gojo looked at him confused.
-”Wait... bleeding? But... but how? You cannot bleed while in Fortnite.” said Gojo anxious.
-”I DON’T CARE! I’M BLEEDING AND JUST HAND OVER THE MEDKITS ALREADY!” screamed Snake as he put pressure over the wound in an attempt to stop the bleeding. Gojo looked at him, then threw bandages as he immediately turned to look at where the enemy were. Whilst Gojo was looking out, Snake started bandaging his wound tightly. Soon enough Snake got on his position as well. Gojo spotted the enemies and started shooting in their way. Gojo noticed the enemies being too fast and looked over at Snake.
-”New plan. We run to the nearest car and drive the heck outta here!” said Gojo, providing cover fire as they ran towards an Trailsmasher, but unfortunately Snake got shot again, this time, in his left side of the torso. He grunted in pain again and Gojo quickly picked him up, placing him in the back before getting in the front seat and driving away from the enemies, but the enemies started chasing them. Snake noticed and started banding his torso too. Gojo kept driving in a zigzag pattern, causing Snake a difficult time to properly bandage himself.
-”It’s going to be okay! Trust me!” said Gojo checking to see Snake’s HP but noticing it was lagging out. Gojo felt a shiver run down his spine as he saw in the front mirror how Snake started lagging out as well as coughing blood. Snake looked at his hand, noticing the blood and how his vision started bugging out almost like a static TV.
-”Huh... Never thought this’d happen.” said Snake, finally feeling a bit of fear in his lifetime as he could feel his vision getting more and more blurry.
-”The only person who knows how to fix this is Hope. She brought me here, along with my other students and taught me how things work around the place!” spoke Gojo, as he made a quick turn to Hazy Hillside. He hit a few street lamps as he finally crashed into Hope’s house. Gojo quickly got out of the car, grabbed Snake and took him immediately inside Hope’s place.
-”Hey Go- WOAH, who’s that? Wait... It... it cannot be... Solid Snake!? What is he doing here!?!?” said Hope, shocked.
-”No time to explain! Just help me out here!” said Gojo panicked as he held tight onto Snake. He laid Snake down on the couch gently, looking worried, Hope picked up his arm and checked his pulse. She noticed Snake’s pulse was slowly decreasing and she immediately cut open his clothes on the spots where he got shot. Gojo couldn’t help but feel light headed, seeing something like this after he gave up on his life as a sorcerer. Hope knew what she had to do when she saw the wounds. She quickly pulled out the bullets from the wounds and sewed the spots. After what felt like hours of agony for Snake, he finally felt like he had a second chance. Hope attached an IV line to Snake’s hand and sat him up. Gojo looked at him scared and full of anxiety.
-”Is he going to be alright? Please tell me he is going to be alright!” said Gojo anxious, his eyes switching rapidly between Snake and Hope.
-”Don’t worry, he’s gonna be fine. I gave him the bracelet I gave you all when you joined, for a short period of time, so that he doesn’t glitch out and bleed for the time being.” said Hope as she sighed.
-”O-oh alright alright... “ said Gojo, giving him a somewhat piece of mind.
-”Snake, are you OK? Snake?” asked Hope, as she came closer to him. Snake looked over at her still feeling light-headed.
-”I’m fine...“ murmured Snake as he tried to stand up.
-”No, no! You are not fine!” said Hope, immediately grabbing him and placing him back down on the couch. Gojo just looked at them, too lost in his own thoughts in order to react. Snake grunted softly as Hope placed him down.
-”Snake. I’ll have to give you two choices... So listen carefully, and don’t act so irrational!” said Hope as she looked at him with a serious yet pitiful look. Snake nodded and looked at her.
-”You either join Fortnite and become an enrolled player. Meaning the chances of you returning to your original game are low. Or, I will have to eliminate you. You can’t survive long enough to escape this place, and if anyone from the agency finds you they’d consider you a bug, eliminating you and erasing your code forever. Basically, what happens if you ever actually get eliminated, since you are just a walking anomaly in this universe.” explained Hope. Snake looked at her and sighed.
-”Fine. I’ll tell you what I choose soon enough.” he responded.
