"A reminder there is no smoking on school grounds." An announcement sounds through the school hallways. I walk around trying to get familiar with the layout of the school.
I split up with the group, in an attempt to look for Penny. I flip open my phone and get ready to text her, but I end up colliding with a body.
My phone slides out of my hand because of the impact, but I hurriedly catch it before it hits the ground, flipping it shut.
I'm met with a pair of brown eyes. My heart jumps in my chest as I take in his frown and deeply furrowed eyebrows.
"Sorry about that." I say, sincerely flashing him an awkward smile before quickly making my way back to the auditorium.

Will is the last to be called up, and he makes his way to the stage. After a few moments of silence, he whispers something to Coach Boomer.
"What do you mean you don't know what your power is?" Coach Boomer says loudly, not even trying to conceal the secret.
I'm not going to treat Will badly because of his lack of powers. I can relate to being late bloomer. But why did his parents register him if he doesn't have any powers? What'd they expect?
Will blubbers for a bit, clearly feeling embarrassed.
"Haha, I get it you're messing with the Coach, just like your old man," Coach Boomer chuckles before walking away and pressing something that triggers a car to fall on top of Will.
I cup my mouth in shock. "Are you insane? "I don't have super strength." Will shouts from underneath the car.
Boomers face holds a confused expression as he presses a button that lifts up the car. "Oh, so you're a flyer, like your mother. Why didn't you say something?"
The floor lifts up, creating a spring-like effect causing Will to fly back. I honestly don't know what to do or think about this situation.
"Kid, quit messing around. What's your power?"
"I don't have one." Will says exhausted and out of breath.
"Stronghold.....sidekick!" Coach Boomer yells so loudly that my ears feel like they're bleeding. I cup my ears tightly, trying to get rid of the throbbing pain.

By the time I get back home, I'm exhausted. I take my shoes off and plop on my soft bed face first. Today was long, and all I want to do is sleep.
A soft knock reaches my ears. I lift up my head. "Come in!"
"Hi sugarplum, how was your day?" My mother questions, holding a gentle smile.
"It was pretty good. The freshman weren't as bad as I thought." I send her a tired smile.
"Oh, that's so good, hunny! I'm so proud!" She gives me a soft kiss on my forehead.
She suddenly gets up and pulls a small box out of her Chanel purse. She hands it to me, and I open the box slowly. My eyes widen as I take in the beautiful bracelet.
"Me and your father wanted to get you a little something. We understand how hard it was to be around superheroes and not having your own, but we are happy that you won't feel left out anymore."
"Thank you, mom," I whisper giving her a tight hug.
