The hotel lobby was deserted.
A woman in her twenties dressed lavishly was sitting on a couch waiting patiently. The grand clock rang loudly as an indication of midnight.
‘Today wasn’t a lucky day either’ she sighed and picked up her bag and coat ready to leave.
That man didn’t appear even today. It was the third day, she had paid the night shift hotel staff to give her space, this hotel wasn’t even that crowded anyway, due to it being hundred years old and not maintaining appearances, the owner of the hotel probably didn’t shut it down completely because it took more money to demolish it than to keep it as it is or maybe there was some emotional attachment.
‘Next month maybe I’ll try again…..’ a look of disappointment washed her face.
The private detective she had hired to get the information about ‘him’ had told her that the man would stay for one or two days at the hotel he inherited from his mother at the end of every month.
After midnight tonight the first of October had begun. There was no reason to stay here anymore.
The doorbell chimed, and someone entered the hotel. She looked up, surprised by the intruder.
He was alone, dressed in black from head to toe.
This greek statue-like appearance was so up to her taste.
Even his hair color looked pitch black in the dim golden light of the dilapidated lobby.
“Harris Milton?” She asked, trying to sound stable even though she was nervous internally.
“Yes.. but I don’t think I remember meeting you” He replied a beat later with an annoyed look, glancing around looking for the receptionist, but the post was empty.
There was no soul in the entire hotel except them. But her body guards and driver were waiting outside in the parking lot. She couldn’t risk her safety meeting with the villain of the novel without any backup.
“I will be your fiancé” she took long steps and stood in front of him, feeling his gaze almost penetrating her.
Holding out her hand for a handshake while mustering up the most confident smile she could muster.
Her neck and cheeks flushed with embarrassment as he showed no intention to hold her extended hand.

“Why should I be entertaining you at this hour, Miss Serenade?” He asked gruffly while holding out the chair for her in the empty hotel lounge.
“You can just call me Rina” she tried to act nonchalant but the aura emanating from him had her on her toes.
“I know you are not here for a petty introduction”
“I am here to propose to you a deal” while maintaining a smile she steeled her resolve. There was no way she could leave without making sure her plan was perfect.
“And what deal could you probably offer me” he looked at her up and down assessing her every move.
“You have been trying to enter into the Textile industry, The Miltons already succeed in the food, pharmaceutical and airlines industry.”
“I am not sure what is the reason behind Miltons stepping into Textiles but I am here to help,” she clasped her hands under the table anticipating the response.
“I don’t understand what's the use of it for you, are you not foresaking your company’s interests by collaborating with soon to be rivals?”
“No..” she took a breath in.
Now things will be easy, she thought.
