The Confession

Taehyung had been pacing around his dorm room for what felt like hours. The argument with Jungkook had left him rattled, but it also made him more determined than ever to figure out his feelings. For too long, he'd let his emotions stay hidden, but it was time to be honest, with himself, and with Jimin. He convinced himself that if he was going to put his heart out there, Jimin was the one who deserved to know it.

So, he spent the day preparing, trying to find the perfect way to say what he had been keeping inside for so long. He bought Jimin's favorite snacks, a small plushie that resembled the puppy Jimin always talked about wanting, and he wrote a letter, one that bared his soul. The words came pouring out of him....

Jimin, I don't know when it happened, but somewhere along the way, you became more than just a friend to me. I can't ignore these feelings anymore.

As the evening drew closer, Taehyung's heart pounded with a mix of anticipation and anxiety. What if Jimin didn't feel the same way? What if confessing his love ruined their friendship? But then, Taehyung remembered how Jimin always made him feel, safe, understood, and happy in a way that no one else ever did. It was worth the risk.

When he reached Jimin's apartment building, Taehyung's hands were trembling. The hallway was dimly lit, his footsteps echoing off the walls as he approached Jimin's door. He took a deep breath, clutching the gift and the letter tightly. This was it. He was going to lay everything on the line.

But just as he raised his hand to knock, something stopped him. Through the small window on the door, he could see inside, and the sight made his breath hitch in his throat.

There, in the warm light of the living room, Jimin was sitting all naked and close to Yoongi, their senior. Too close. Taehyung felt his heart skip a beat as Yoongi reached out, gently brushing a strand of hair from Jimin's face, his touch lingering. Jimin leaned into the touch, his expression soft, a shy smile tugging at his lips. The intimacy in the moment was undeniable.

Taehyung took a step back, his mind reeling. He didn't want to believe what he was seeing, but then Jimin's voice drifted out through the slightly open window.

"Yoongi…. I'm glad we finally told everyone," Jimin murmured, his voice carrying a note of relief. "Keeping this a secret was exhausting."

Yoongi chuckled softly, his eyes never leaving Jimin's face. "I know, but now we don't have to hide it anymore," he said, leaning in closer. "We're fated mates. It's always been you."

The words hit Taehyung like a physical blow. Fated mates? He felt his knees weaken, his breath coming out in short, ragged gasps. Jimin and Yoongi were…. fated mates? He had no idea. How could he have been so blind? The letter slipped from his grasp, fluttering to the ground as the reality of the situation sank in.

For a moment, he could only stare at the scene before him, Jimin and Yoongi sitting all naked in eachother's arms, gazing at each other with a kind of love and understanding that Taehyung had never seen before. It was clear in the way they looked at each other, as though no one else in the world existed. That should have been him in there with Jimin. It was supposed to be his confession tonight, not this.

Taehyung stumbled back, his chest tightening as if the air had been sucked out of the room. The hope he'd held onto for so long shattered in an instant. All the courage he'd gathered to confess, all the words he'd carefully written in that letter, none of it mattered anymore. It felt like his heart had been ripped out and stomped on.

He turned on his heel and walked away, almost running down the hall and out of the building, his feet carrying him far from Jimin's apartment. He didn't know where he was going, just that he needed to get away from the sight of them, from the reminder of what he had lost before he ever really had it.

As he reached a deserted park nearby, Taehyung collapsed onto a bench, burying his face in his hands. A broken sob escaped him, the sound cutting through the silence of the night. He had never felt so small, so humiliated. All this time, he had convinced himself that Jimin might feel the same way, that there was even a small chance. But in the end, he had been nothing but a fool, chasing after someone who already had a love that fate had destined for him.

Why didn't he tell me? The thought clawed at his mind. How could Jimin, who shared everything with him, have hidden something so important? Taehyung's hands trembled as anger and sorrow twisted together in his chest. He felt betrayed, not just by Jimin, but by the universe itself. Why did everyone else seem to find their fated mates, while he was left empty handed? Even Jungkook, who had been desperate for him to acknowledge their bond…. and Taehyung had pushed him away.

The thought of Jungkook brought another wave of guilt crashing over him. He had accused Jungkook of trying to manipulate him with talk of fated mates, but here was Jimin, finding his own fated mate without any struggle. It seemed so unfair, Jungkook's confession now felt like a bitter reminder of what Taehyung would never have.

His mind raced back to the argument, to the look of heartbreak on Jungkook's face when Taehyung had pushed him away. I'm such an idiot, he thought bitterly. Jungkook had been offering him something real, and Taehyung had thrown it aside, chasing after a fantasy with Jimin that had crumbled before his eyes.

The park was dark and empty, the silence pressing in around him as he let out another ragged sob. He felt like he was falling apart, like the pieces of his heart were scattering beyond repair. All the plans he'd made, the dreams of being with Jimin, had vanished into thin air. Now, all that was left was a hollow ache in his chest and the bitter taste of reality.!

Eventually, he pulled himself together enough to wipe his tear streaked face. He picked up the gift bag and the letter that had fallen out of his pocket during his frantic escape from Jimin's apartment. It felt heavy in his hands now, useless, meaningless.

Taehyung let out a shaky breath, his voice hoarse as he whispered to himself, "Guess I was never meant to have a happy ending."

As he walked back to his dorm, his steps were slow and weary, as if he were dragging the weight of his broken heart behind him. For the first time in his life, Taehyung felt truly lost. The world, which had once felt so full of possibilities, now seemed empty and cold.

And deep down, a part of him wondered if he had made the biggest mistake of his life by turning away from the one person who had believed in their bond, the one person who had seen him for who he really was, Jungkook. But it was too late now. There was no going back.
