Chapter 12: Proposal

Veronica

Katy- "Veronica? What are you doing here?" Katy worked at one the finest restaurants in all of New York I could tell Betty felt that she was out of place. Betty- "Ve? How can you afford this?" Veronica- "I told you about my safe fund, and Katy here is very helpful" Katy- "you must be Betty, nice to meet you" she shook Betty's hand before leading us to the table

Veronica- "Katy, can I talk to you" Katy- "Sure Ron, what's up?"

We walked a little further away from the table. Veronica- (softly) "I'm asking Betty to marry me tonight" her eyes widened as a smile came across my face. Katy- (softly)  "oh my gosh! Veronica! That's amazing!" Veronica- (laughs) "keep you voice down, and she has to say yes before we can get too excited. I know it's soon but I really love her. And her dad gave me a ring. I just can't wait" Katy- (smiles) "go get your girl" she gave me a quick hug before I went over and sat across from Betty

Betty- (smiles) "what was that about?" Veronica- "oh, she was just happy to see me. It's been a little while" Betty- "well she seems really nice, I'd love to actually hang out" Veronica- "maybe you could invite Josie over and we could all hang out" Betty- (smiles) "that sounds great Ve, I'd love that" we ordered our food from Katy and spent the next thirty minutes talking about life and everything she wanted to talk about

Betty- "Ve.. have we ever talked about a family?" Veronica- "you mean together? I mean briefly but not particularly" Betty- "w-would you want kids?" Veronica- "are you kidding, I definitely want kids. I always have" Betty- "me too, I'd love to be a mom.." she seemed off and I was worried about her so I grabbed her hand. Veronica- "and you will. You're gonna be an amazing mom"

She smiled and kissed my hand before putting hers back into her lap. Betty- "thank you for this Ve, this is so nice" Veronica- "of course, anything for you baby" Betty- (smiles) "I love you" Veronica- "I love you too"

Betty- "so Ve, you met my mom and sister.. when can I meet your parents?" I choked on the water I was drinking and coughed for a second. Veronica- "o- oh Be, I don't think you want to do that. They can be... judgmental" Betty- "Ve, I really care about you. I want to be serious with you" Veronica- "believe me Betty, I do too but-" Betty- "but you don't want me to meet your parents" Veronica- "Betty please, I just don't want you to hate me" Betty- (sighs) "I could never hate you, I just wanna know more about you"

Veronica- "and you will, at our wedding" Betty- (smiles) "you think so?" Veronica- "I do"

I reached into my pocket and set the ring down in front of her. Veronica- "I'm not getting down on my knee, because I know you hate the attention. But Betty. I haven't known you very long" she gasps a little before I continued. Veronica- "I love you Betty. I fell in love with you the minute I saw your picture. Then again in person when I saw you. I can't remember what it was like before I met you and I don't ever want to know again. So Betty Cooper. Will you marry me?"

She paused for a second before looking down and grabbing her stomach. Betty- (in tears) "I'm sorry" she got up and ran to the bathroom as Katy looked at me with a worried expression. I wasn't losing Betty so I chased after her

When I got to the bathroom, she was in one of the stalls throwing up again. I immediately grabbed her hair and rubbed her back. Betty- (cries) "I'm so sorry, I ruined it" Veronica- "no sweetie, it's okay" Betty- (smiles) "of course I'll marry you silly but I think there's something else to deal with" I smiled and pulled her hair into a ponytail. Veronica- "let's just get you home and we can talk later" she nodded before wiping her mouth.

I talked to Katy and she totally understood. I held Betty's hand all the way back to our place. Veronica- (softly) "why don't you get changed and we can talk" she nodded before putting on some sweatpants and one of my hoodies. She came and sat next to me on the couch before she took my hand

Betty- "I hope you know that I would never say no to marrying you. I would love to be your wife" I kissed her cheek before grabbing the ring from my pocket and sliding it onto her finger

Betty- "wait.. is this?" Veronica- (nods) "your dad gave it to me that day. He just wanted you to be happy and I asked for his blessing to marry you" she stared at the ring as tears came to her eyes. Veronica- "aw Be don't cry" Betty- (laughs) "it's kinda hard not to"

I pulled her close to me and let her cry into my shoulder before kissing her. Betty- "sorry, my breath is probably horrible. I just haven't been feeling well" Veronica- "I know baby, I do and I wish I could make it go away" Betty- "I just, I don't wanna know" Veronica- "know what?"

Betty- "I think I might be pregnant"
