"Lottie?"
The girl in pink turns around, her arms crossed over her chest as she looks at the shorter brunette who stands in front of her.
"Hey, Vi,"
"What are you doing? It's cold and dark out," Violet tugs her sweater tighter over her body.
She had noticed Lottie hadn't stepped foot in the cabin, instead just standing outside, staring blankly ahead of her.
When Lottie doesn't answer her, Violet steps closer. "Lottie?  Seriously, what's your deal?"
"I just...I have a really bad feeling about this place,"
Violet rolls her tongue over her teeth, crossing her arms over her chest "Lottie-"
"I mean it, Vi. It's a really bad feeling. Like unsettling,"
Violet sighs, "Lottie, this whole situation is unsettling. My stomach has hurt since that stupid plane crashed-"
"So you feel it to?"

Violet squints, she has zero idea what 'it' Lottie is referring to.
Regardless, she shakes her head, "Lottie, please come inside,"
Lottie shakes her head causing Violet to huff in annoyance. "For fuck sakes Lottie,"
Violet walks ever closer, looking up at Lottie who has a solid 8 inches on her.
"You need to come inside. Did you not see the fucking bear we found? Who knows what is out here in these woods"
"Yes, but-"
"No buts Lottie," she pauses, giving Lottie pleading eyes "Please. Come inside,"
Lottie sighs before silently walking past Violet into the cabin.
Violet follows shortly after, Taissa shoots the shorter girl a thankful look as Lottie enters.
The brunette sits down in her makeshift bed beside Natalie, wrapping a blanket around her shoulders.

"You holding up okay, Hart?" Natalie asks, keeping her voice loud enough only Violet can hear her. "You seem off,"
Violet rolls her eyes playfully, "We did just go through a plane crash-"
"That's not what I mean,"
Violet takes a breath "I'm fine, Nat. You?"
Natalie nods, adjusting her pant leg, "I'm fine." Natalie stalls for a moment, she keeps looking at Violet the way she always does when there is obviously more to the conversation.
Violet groans, "God, Nat. What is it?"
" I noticed you gave your portion to Jackie earlier,"
Violet sighs, resting her head on the makeshift pillow, looking at the ceiling.
"She was hungry,"
Nat raises a brow, "And you aren't?"
"Do we have to talk about this right now?" Violet places her hands over face.
"No, we don't," Natalie bites her lip.
"Hey," Violet takes her hands off her face, looking at Natalie. "I'm okay. You don't need to worry about me. It was a one time thing,"
"It better have been. You're mean when you don't eat,"
Violet playfully smacks Nat's leg, "Shut up and go to bed,"
"Point proven,"
Violet shoots Natalie a playful glare, Natalie playfully rolls her eyes.
"Fine, fine,"
"Goodnight, Nat,"
"Night, Violet,"

~~~
Violet is shooting up from her bed in the middle of the night panting.
She rubs her eyes, hopping to rub the after thoughts of the nightmare away.
Placing a hand on her chest, she takes deep breaths, trying to calm her rapid heart rate.
Her eyes pierce around the cabin where all the other girls are peacefully sleeping, except for Lottie and Taissa.
Squinting her eyes, Violet tosses her blankets off her, a shuffling from upstairs lets her curious side get the better of her.
Taking soft, careful steps, she makes her way to the latter, hearing hushed voices.
"Taissa? Lottie?" she whispers, beginning to climb up the latter.
Violet makes her way up, "Lottie? Tai?"
When Violet reaches the top, Taissa is sitting close to the latter opening, Lottie is cowered away in the corner, both of them look as if they have seen a ghost.
Violet moves so she is sitting on the floor, facing Lottie.
"Guys-"
"Violet, you need to go," Taissa harshly whispers.
"Why? What is going on?"
Lottie then snaps her head over, looking into Violet's brown eyes, "I told you, Violet,"
Violet's eye brows furrow, she glances at Taissa who had been looking past Violet's shoulder in horror.
Violet hesitantly looks over her shoulder, her breath instantly getting caught in her throat as she sees the decaying corpse sitting in a rocking chair.
"Oh my god," Violet cries, her arms that were previously supporting her give out, leading her to practically collapse against Taissa.
"What the fuck?" She cries, turning to face Taissa.
"Shh, it's okay," Taissa tries to reassure, but Violet shakes her head, not being able to get the image out of her head.
She's not sure she'll ever be able to.
~~~

Even after they've buried the body, the image doesn't go away.
It seems like every time Violet closes her eyes, the corpse is staring back at her, it's decaying, sunken face haunts her.
She sees the creepy symbols that surrounded the body, the horrified looks on Lottie and Taissa's face. It was all making this already terrifying experience so much worse than it needed to be.
Violet had barley been sleeping, she wasn't the only one.

Every time Violet had awoken from a nightmare, it was either Lottie or Natalie who had also been awake. While Natalie was usually shooting up from nightmare of her own (Once wasn't a new thing), Lottie had just been numbly staring at the latter of the attic.
Whenever Violet would go over to her to try and comfort her, Lottie just numbly laid back down and allowed the cycle to repeat.

Violet leans against the wall, her head in her hands as the fragments of her dream still replay in her mind.
She jumps when she hears the door open, she is quick to remove her hands from her face, looking to see who it was.
A sense of relief washes over her when it's Jackie, the captain tilts her head.
"Violet? Why are you still up?"
Violet shrugs, "I couldn't sleep. You?"
"I had to pee," Jackie whispers back, sitting next to Violet.

The two sit beside each other in silence for a few moments, Violet plays with the hem of her T-shirt, avoiding Jackie's gaze.
"Are you alright?"
Violet nods, "Yeah, I'm alright. You?"
"I use to have nightmares too," Jackie admits, Violet shoots her a confused glance.
"What?"
"That's why you can't sleep, right?"
Violet bites her lip, fiddling with the rings on her fingers, "Yeah, I guess,"
"I use to have them when I was younger. They started when Shauna brought over 'The Fathers Grimm Fairytales,'  when we were 10 and we stayed up late reading it under the covers. One night, we read 'The Juniper Tree,"
Violet raises her brows, "Isn't that the one where-"
"Where the devil enters the stepmom and she kills her son? Yeah. Anyway, Shauna had slept peacefully like a baby the entire night, but I had nightmares about it for the rest of the week,"
"I didn't take you as one to be easily scared, Taylor,"
Jackie rolls her eyes, "I'm not. It's a perfectly reasonable story to be afraid of,"
"Whatever helps you sleep at night, Taylor,"
"Well...that story didn't,"
Violet laughs softly, "Good point, Taylor."

"So," Jackie drums her fingers on her pajama pants, "What are you having nightmares about?"
"Seems like a bit of a personal question, Taylor," the brunette teases.
Jackie just raises her brows, "Well?"
"It's nothing-"
"Violet."
Violet lets out a shaky breath after a silent battle in her head, "The cabin guy," she quietly admits.
"Have you been sleeping? Like at all?" Jackie's voice has risen slightly with concern.
"Barley," Violet replies, picking at the skin around her nails, Jackie sighs beside her.
"How about you just...try?"
Violet rolls her eyes, her voice is oozing with sarcasm when she says "Oh jeez, that's a good Idea. I wish I would have thought about that,"
"I just mean like, try laying down again. We need you to not be a total zombie,"
Violet nods as Jackie gets up, shifting over to her bed, Violet lays down, staring at the ceiling, praying for a peaceful slumber.
