When Violet woke up, a swarm of confusion wracked her brain.
Violet had forced her eyes shut and pretended to be asleep until she felt Jackie move to her own bed. After that, she had continued staring blankly at the ceiling, a million thoughts violently struck her mind.
The possibility of liking Jackie Taylor made Violet's stomach hurt in more than one way.
Violet had never thought too deeply about her sexuality before.
She didn't really have a reason to.
She had never really dated anyone before. There had been once or twice where Natalie introduced her to a few of her 'casual hookups' friends, but Violet was never interested.
Especially when it came to Bobby Farleigh's friends.
But Violet never thought about the possibility of liking a girl. Sure she had never really been into a guy before, but that didn't mean anything to her. She just blamed it on the lack of decent guys in her high school.
Violet also didn't think if she was into a girl it would be Jackie fucking Taylor of all people.
Sure she had always admired Jackie in some way, but everyone did.
Everyone thought Jackie was pretty. Everyone thought Jackie was a great soccer player.
Several people were envious and wished they could be her in some way.
Maybe deep down she had always liked girls. Maybe that explains why she had always been so interested in Van's dating life.
Maybe that is why she had always felt her eyes accidently linger a bit longer then they should have in the locker room.
Maybe that is why she had the stupid fluttering feeling in her stomach whenever Jackie was around her.

During the swarming in her head, Violet must have fallen asleep because she soon felt a boot on her side, shaking her along with hushed voices.
"Violet. Violet come on," Violet recognized the raspy voice as Natalie's.
"Nat, let her sleep," that was Jackie, once made Violet's head spin with more confusion.
Natalie must have given her a strange look because Jackie is quick to whisper a response.
"She's barley been sleeping, Nat, she seems-"
Violet took this as her cue to let the two girls aware of her awake state. "Sorry, I'm up,"
"It's fine, Violet. Come on, lets get some breakfast in you," Natalie replies, helping her best friend up. Violet groans in pain, feeling the all to familiar aching pain in her side.
"Son of a bitch," she groans.
Natalie laughs slightly, "Yeah, we've all synced up,"
"Great," Violet sarcastically replies, following Natalie outside to help her and Taissa chop and stack wood for the fire.

"God, I swear I better have the best muscles after this shit," Violet complains as Taissa stacks the wood in her arms so high it itches under her chin.
"I'm sure you will," Taissa jokes, adding another piece of wood into the shorter girls arms.
"Don't topple over on the way short-stack," Natalie teases, earning playful eye roll from Violet before she makes her way to the fire, dropping the wood by the fire with a huff.
"Christ," she sighs, stretching her arms before sitting down beside Van, who passes her a bowl of soup, "Breakfast, the most important meal of the day," she smiles.
"Thanks," Violet carefully cradles the bowl in her hand, staring at it for a few moments, her thoughts from last night are still replaying in her mind.
"Shit," she hears Jackie curse, rubbing her wrist slightly, causing Van to snicker beside her.
Violet stops herself from making a comment to Van by shoving a spoonful of soup in her mouth, nearly gagging at the bland flavor.
"Hart,"
Violet jumps, glancing up at Taissa, who nods her head, both the axes in her head, "Come on, bring these back with me,"
Violet nods, "Here Van," she passes the bowl of mostly untouched soup to her friend, walking away before Van could protest.

Violet takes the second axe from Taissa, following her up to the shed.
"What's been up with you?" Taissa asks.
Violet keeps her head forward, "What do you mean?"
"Van's worried about you. She says you've been off,"
"We are trapped in the fucking wilderness Turner," Violet harshly replies, "I'm fine,"
"Oh yeah, it really seems that way," Taissa's voice is dripping with sarcasm.
"Just fuck off, okay?"
"You don't need to have such an attitude,"
"Who do you think I get it from?" Violet looks at Taissa. "Look, we don't have to do this,"
"Do what?"
"The pretending we're friends and checking up on each other bullshit. You and Van are together and that's great. I'm happy, but you don't need to pretend you give a shit just because you are hooking up with my best friend,"
"It's not like that. And it's more than hooking up. Seriously, you don't need to be such a bitch,"
Violet sighs, Taissa was right. She really had no reason to be so bitchy. She just felt so physically and mentally exhausted and confused out of her mind.
"You're right. I'm sorry,"
"It's fine. Just...cool it on the bitchiness a bit,"
