Author pov:
It was late at night when Muntazir was working on his laptop for a case, while Tahera slept peacefully beside him. He glanced at her and smiled.
Just then, he received a message on his phone: "Muntazir, come out, it’s urgent." It was from Farhan, and Muntazir felt confused and worried about what could have happened.
He looked at Tahera, kissed her forehead, and went outside.
Farhan was pacing in the living room, clearly anxious, when Muntazir approached him. "What happened?" Muntazir asked.
Farhan, shuddering, replied, "Mujhe bhook lagi hai," (I’m hungry). Muntazir was shocked and threw a pillow at him. "You scared me for hunger? Nalayak (fool)!" They both started laughing. Muntazir made pasta for them, and they enjoyed their meal together.
After eating, Farhan said, "I’m ready for marriage." Muntazir smiled at him.
Later, they went to sleep.
The next morning, Tahera woke up, completed her Fajr prayer, and began reading the Quran. While getting ready, she opened the cupboard and found some papers. When she looked closer, she saw they were divorce papers.
Her heart shattered. She was in shock.
Tahera's POV:
“Divorce papers? But why?” she asked herself, tears streaming down her face. “Mujhe sameta bhi toh phirse bhikarne ke liye,” (You held me together just to break me again) she cried, feeling betrayed. She never expected this from Muntazir.
Just then, Muntazir arrived and saw her crying. “Noor, why are you crying?” he asked as he approached her.
“Rulake puch rahe ho?” ( Muntazir was taken aback. “Kya hua hai?” (What happened?)
She threw the divorce papers at him. Muntazir read them, his eyes filled with guilt.
“Aitbaar kiya tha aape apne kuch na batakar mera Aitbaar thod dia.
“Noor, what you think isn’t true. Please trust me,” he said, stepping closer.
She backed away and said, “Divorce chahiye na aapko? Aaj aapki khwaish puri karte hain.” (You want a divorce, right? Let’s fulfill your wish today.) She signed the papers and placed them on the table.
“TAHERA, stop! What are you doing?” he shouted, tearing the divorce papers apart.
Tahera looked at him, saying, “Is kagaz ko fadne se kuch nahi hoga hamara rishta...”
He kissed her and said between kisses, “Aap mere pyaar ka Andaza is kagaz ke tukde se karinge.” (You will measure my love by these torn pieces of paper.) She pulled away and replied, “Don’t touch me. Aapne koi rasta nahi chhoda hai door rahiye mujhse.” (You’ve left no choice but for me to stay away from you.)
Muntazir pleaded, “Mujhe bolne ka mauqa toh dein.” (Please give me a chance to speak.) Tahera stepped forward, asking, “Kyun hai ye divorce papers is kamre?” (Why are there divorce papers in this room?)
He held her closer and explained, “Those are fake papers. I brought them to show Abdul Sikandar that I’m going to give you a divorce.”
Tahera looked at him, surprised. “So you wanted to do that?”
Muntazir replied, “It was just part of my plan, begum.”
Tahera pulled away, feeling hurt. “I’m just a part of your game, Muntazir. Am I nothing to you? Where do I stand in your life?”
He looked into her eyes and said, “You’re not just a part of my life; you’re the owner of my whole heart.”
Tears rolled down Tahera's cheeks as she replied, “I just need time for this relationship.” She grabbed her bag and started to leave.
